I just pulled into the campground and found out my driver side rear brakessmelling like there burning. Get back in to move the mh and pedal goes to the floor. The mh has 14,000 miles on it. It's a 2003 W20. I cant even get parts. What a sin! Fed UP!

Richard,

Many Workhorse Service Centers don't carry very many parts.... They have order everything. OBTW - when you need parts be sure to take your vin # with you as it is required by WH to order parts.

Yes - WH's parts system leaves alot to be desired!

Okay, that makes sense to me... I thought that angelman was saying that literally, parts were not available to repair the brake system, and found that hard to believe.

Tom,

Be sure to report this to NHTSA, as there is an on going investigation on the W20 brakes.

Richard,

Do NOT be to surprised if TOM reports back that parts are back ordered or not available.

Angleman;
I also had a brake failure in August on my W-20 and the circumstances were posted on this forum. Like jdsr and oemtech suggested, please report it to the NHTSA. The entire situation was an eye-opener for me....expensive too!

Well after two days of total fustration my brother in law drove out 150 miles with 3/4 inch drive tools to get the rear wheels off. There are signs of heat buid up on the rotors and the rubber boots around the piston caliper (2) have become brittle. The caliper slide pins were very well greased and no signs of binding. There was no apparent visual reason for the overheating of one side only. We were able to get the new brake pads 150 miles away, but didn't need to change them. While the vehicle was still raised we tried to spin the axle while the other applid the brakes. We did notice a very lagged release of the brakes, almost like a secondary reapplying taking place. It felt like the piston return spring in the master cylinder was not returning fast enough. I also tried to return the pedal quickly by hand but it acted the same. Im very worried about this situation and will be in contact with workhorse as soon as I get back.
