I have to:
Step on the brake
Push the Neutral selector
And then push the yellow e brake knob
If I am not careful about the exact sequence, it will not release.

Not sure if the two of you have the push button shift or just the lever. I use to have same problem when coach was new come to find out that if you do not put brake on first before putting in park you can cause gears it trans to lock the gear shift. Also with gear shift lift lever up towards you than slip it into park after operating foot brake.
Do every thing in reverse before putting in drive.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine (06 Southwind) Standard lever shift, not pushbutton. It wasn't like 007's problem because I disconnected the cable at the trans and it still did the same thing. It was the interlock in the column. The worst thing was that it was the morning I was pulling it out of the driveway this August to head to Colorado for 2 weeks.
I tried every combination of turning the ignition on/off, brakes on, brakes on REAL hard, levelers up/down/on/off, etc. I even took the covers off the steering column looking for the mechanism. Finally after trying a bunch of different things, it just worked. I never figured it out, and....3500 miles later...knock on wood....it hasn't happened again.
I'd be real curious to find out what it was...let me know if you find out!!

Had this happen about 5 times now. I have an 06 Holiday Rambler Vacationner with 5 speed transmission. Exact same symptoms and exact same fix. It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to get it out of park, your method is the one to use.
It usually happens to me when my unit is over leveled. What I mean by that is if the front has to be leveled very high to get the whole coach level. It doesn't happen every time, but at least I know what the fix is to get out of the predicament.
There must be a fix for this, but it hasn't happened enough that I want my coach to sit at the dealer for a month or so...

When ignition is on there is a shift from park lockout solenoid that becomes energized, and prevents shifting from park unless the foot brake is applied. It is located at the bottom of the steering column, about 6 inches from the floor, and at about the 10 o'clock position. It becomes almost too hot to touch while energized. Applying the foot brake releases power to the solenoid, allowing the lock pin to drop out of the shifter ring. There is a long rod between the solenoid and shifter. It should be visible along with and just below the ignition switch actuator rod. Recent work in an uncareful manner can cause either of these rods to bind. The shift lock solenoid will fail in the open position. That is that when it no longer is energized or has burned 'open' the lockout function is disabled and shift from park is allowed without depressing the foot brake.

Just an update; it is related to the brake light switch. Found that when i stepped on the brake when the engine was off i didn't hear the aux. hydroboost electric motor. Had the dw come out and step on the brake. No stop lights. Pulled the fuse and checked it , it's good. Put it back in and now everythings okay. Bringing it to the dealer tommorrow for some warranty stuff so will bring this up also.THANKS to all who replied.
