Like many others my "Workhorse" battery decided to stop holding a charge. It's less than a year old and would probably be covered by warranty, .... but, I don't have much faith in the Workhorse brand of battery. After reading about them in many forum posts, the just don't seem to be reliable. I'm thinking of replacing it with a stronger battery.

So, ... my question. What is the Group ID of this battery? The Workhorse web site has it listed as either a 660 CCA, and a 770 CCA. I have no idea why its listed as both, but there is no reference to the battery group.

Anyone have any ideas, ... ??

PS, I'm new here and have heard many good things about this forum.

It is a GROUP 78 Battery, with SIDE terminals. The AC Delco OEM Battery may be a 600 CCA or the Optional 770 CCA.
They are both excellent batteries. I am not aware of any Workhorse OEM Chassis Battery problems. I know many folks have problems with their HOUSE batteries due to being run down and out of water while sitting for months on dealers lots. If your battery is under warranty, I would certainly let Workhorse replace it for you. Workhorse is very good with their warranty, if you can find a Workhorse Certified Shop that knows what they are doing.

Good luck - Glenn

I believe the batteries workhorse uses are simply re-branded "Major quality battery company" products. No reason not to have faith. Since the company name is hearsay and I have not personally done the research I'll not mention it.

But the name mentioned is a one of the top 2 or 3 names in batteries. It is, in fact, the battery I'd most likely replace it with if I had to.

Short true story:

My Chassis battery acted dead.. Turned out to be a bad connection on one of the terminals, when I disconnected the wire so I could run a load test (Battery passed) and re-connected it... The problem vanished.
