I was running in 99+ degree temps today coming up to South Carolina and when I got to the campground parked and set up, I noticed oil puddled on the bottom outside edge of the front right rim. Pulled the hubcap and the oil level looked ok. There wasn't much oil on the outside of the rim and it didn't seem to be slinging it. Just this small puddle. Can it come from the back of the wheel seal and drip onto the outside edge? Does anyone think it may be from the high temps that may cause the oil to expand? Other wheel seems ok. I'm concerned it may be a seal going bad. Not sure how these oil hubs work!
Thanks for any advice.

It is very unusual to see the fluid in its present location without any telltale signs of centrifugal release of fluid from the hub. Check the rotors and calipers make sure there isn't any fluid on those and keep on truckin'.
Perhaps that hub was slightly overfilled but then you would expect to see centrifugal fluid stains.
Since the level looks good in the sight glass you should be OK. Keep an eye on it every few hours when you take a break.

Thanks DriVer,
We're here about a week then over to Lake Lanier in Georgia. I'll check it again there.
Just as a side note, I have noticed when the engine accelerates up a hill and I have the dash air on, I get a loud whooshing sound under the dash for about 30 seconds after the engine returns to normal rpm then it stops abruptly like a valve closes. I think this is similar to others talking about their dash air noises.
I also got the all instruments to zero and dinging noise this trip.
For only 11000 miles, I've got maintenance to work on for sure.

The other member was reporting on a WGO motorhome however you guys might be using close to the same system. If the event repeats itself consistently and there doesn't appear to be any problems with the operation of the motorhome perhaps it's just the way the thing works. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">I also got the all instruments to zero and dinging noise this trip. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Keep an eye on it but by in large its an innocuous event.

The dash air noise is difficult to pinpoint because it only happens when the engine is at high rpm and then shifts back to normal rpm. Can't tell while driving and can't talk the DW to crawl under there to check it out. It does seem to last longer the hotter it gets and the more down shifting that gets done on inclines. You can hear it even when the big fan spins up but keeps going for about 30 seconds after the big fan shuts down. Very strange thing! But so far nothing has fallen off or gone through the doghouse so maybe it is normal.

Streamerman,
If the front wheel seals are leaking it will have oil on the inside. I just had to change mine as the left one was leaking. I would think that the oil was from being overfull and heat forced it out the plug. Also check the wheel for heat the next time you drive it. Could have a brake sticking and building up heat.
As long as you have the oil filled up just drive it and watch it and see if it does it again.
Good luck
Ron
