W24 Lubrication - "Front Steering Knuckles"

Just got finished lubing the chassis. The manual shows location 4 as the steering knuckle (one fitting each side) and 4B as upper and lower ball joints.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I found two fittings (upper and lower) on the steering knuckle and no ball joints because it is a solid axle. The manual doesn't show an exception for W24 as some of the other lubrication points and just want to make sure I didn't miss something.

Just finished lubing mine. Upper and lower steering knuckle each side. I am guessing that when they said ball joints, they meant the steering ball joints on either end of the tie rod. Plus the joints from the steering box to the tie rod.

It is definitely confusing but I spent quite a bit of time looking for another fitting and couldn't find one nor did it make sense as there were not other joints that moved that I could find.

On my 2005 W24 there are 8 grease nipples on the front suspension. On both ends of the solid axle there are 2 nipples, upper and lower, for the king pin bushings. There is one nipple at each end of the tie rod and one nipple at each end of the drag link.

There aren't any ball joints on a W Series chassis, just King Pins.

There should be 14 grease fittings on your chassis to the best of my knowledge.

FYI - You should grease the bottom king pin bushing while on the ground, and lift the front wheel to grease the top king pin.
