Workhorse parts can be hard to obtain at times. GM parts, some of which are interchangable with WH, are much more easily obtainable. Is there a way to cross reference part numbers ?

What model chassis are you referring to?
If you have a W-series, the only GM component on it is the engine (and its dress-ware). Nothing else is made by GM or ever was.

I have a W22 chassis. I beleive that at least some parts are able to be cross-referenced. As an example, I recently replaced the a/c compressor. The mechanic had a hard time finding a replacement for the part which had a "W" serial number. After consulting with both WH and GM folks, he was able to obtain an identical compressor with a GM parts number.
Both were made by Delphi, which is a common supplier.

I have a few numbers in mind, but what was the number he ended up using?
also, not all WCC parts have a "w" in the number
the latest and greatest WCC number for the compressor is 52445253, which might look like a GM number but is not.

Sorry parts expert but there are other parts on a W chassis made by GM. For instance the MFU on '04 W20 is the same as '97 S-10. There are others.

I agree that I wish I could get a cross reference for GM parts. I needed a new steering column lock cylinder. It was very difficult to find the workhorse part.

MFU is multi-function unit. It is the assy that houses trun signal, cruise contro, wiper control and fits around the steering column just forward of the steering wheel.FYI the GM part number is 26100985. Mine was replaced under warranty by a GM dealer not WCC in Soldatna. WCC didn't want to authorize it and gave a mighty fight, but Coach Net convinced them (WCC) that it would be cheaper than toeing me to Anchorage. Coach was nondrivabel due to hazard light switch malfunction causing no brake lights
