A couple of months ago my wife and I started out for a relaxing weekend with RV friends. We got about 15 miles form the house when I realized I had a problem, pulling over onto the shoulder of I 40 I discoverded smoke coming from the right front wheel. After letting it cool for about an hour, we "limped" to the next exit about 6 miles to get safely off of I 40.

To make a long story short, the right front caliper had stuck in the braking position. I contacted my roadside service provider and my closest WH Chasis repair center. Had to have the MH pulled to Carl Black Chevrolet in downtown Nashville. After tearing down the calipers (all 4 wheels) and contacting WH, complete with picturesof the calipers, the repair authorized was only for the caliper replacement. WH did not cover the speed sensor nor the wheel bearing oil seal which was damaged. WH took the positionthat the problem was caused by wheel seal failure not the caliper. BTW this is now the third seal and speed sensor to be replaced on this wheel and the MH only has a little over 11, 000 miles. The first two were paid for out of my pocket since the MH was out of warrenty. I now believe the other failures were caused by excessive heat generated by a slightly dragging caliper.

Attempts to contact someone at WH who can help me to appeal having to pay out of my pocked for a third seal and speed sensor have been unsuccessful. It seems that there is only one person who is handeling the issue of brake problems. All calls and emails to Dennis Bloom have gone unanswered and unreturned.

Now I find out that WH is saying it wil not be until LATE 2010 before the recall is actually sent out (if then). Why so long???? I guess several people will have to be killed due to brake problems before WH finds a solution.

That's totally ridiculous for them to deny your problem caused by defective caliper. We all know the caliper probably seized up causing too much heat, melting the grease seal etc, etc. We are tired of the denials also the stalling. Mine is 2005 and I just had my third caliper lock up. They paid for the first. They denied the second was a locked up caliper even though I pulled over, raised the RV on the levelers and couldn't rotate that wheel. I was forced to pay because I had already towed it to the repair center, they disasembled, took photos and sent to WH. WH said it wasn't the caliper. I saw the photos and could clearly see the heat had caused discolorization. I would have had to pay them to put it back like it was or pay to repair. I paid to repair. Guess what they replaced? Yep, the caliper. Now another one has gone bad. One day I think I want to replace myself ,the next I think I want to wait. If I only had an idea how long before the recall fix it would be easier to make a decision. Sorry for your anguish, you are not alone.
