Last weekend we took delivery of a new Four Winds Hurricane built on a W18 chassis. While it isn't exactly what we had been looking for in a motorhome, the price was right, we won it! I've been told by Four Winds/Thor that they do not wire for electric brake control or pre-wire for a rear view camera.
Anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for this beast? I need to add a brake control for our trailer and want to add a rear view camera too. Did WH by chance include any wiring for a brake control? I see an assortment of unused wiring plugs under the dash near the steering column and fuse box, but nothing labeled.
Cheers,
Ken

Ken, Congratulations. There really isn't a trailer brake wire (blue) on the Workhorse that I know of. You can however simply run a new 12 gauge conductor back there for the brake controller. I would run a 1- #12 for the brakes and 1- #10 wire for a ground (white).
All backup cameras are installed by the coach builder. If they didn't wire it then there isn't going to be any wires that Workhorse would have provided for a backup camera. Again the harness for the camera should come in the kit and you'll have to run that from inside the coach where the monitor would be installed to the location of the camera.

I figured I might have to run things for the camera. I was hoping that there might at least be a connector for the brake control. But no big deal to do it the hard way. I planned to run a pair of wires aft, one for trailer brakes and one for battery feed on trailer. From you note, sounds like a ground running all the way back is a good idea too.
Cheers

Hi Guys
If the W18 is anything like my 2008 W16 - yes indeed there is a prewired bundle for the electric brake controller. There are 6 or 8 wires labled for the exact purpose, however I am not sure which brake controller it was wired for. Driver might be able to help as to which make and model the thing was wired to accept. I found the bundle when installing wires for the new solar system. It is located on the drivers side under the dash behind the plastic cover for the fuse assembly. The prewired bundle even has a wiring diagram on the label.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make a dive under the dash and look for it. Did you also find wires at the rear for trailer brakes? My chassis came with a 4 wire trailer connector at the hitch. But I haven't looked around under it to see if other wires are back there too.

I see you are running a 2009 rig. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but aside from the wires that run back to my Pollock plug I have not found a trailer brake wire. It's good that you found this and it should help ocn out.

Looks like the electric brake wire is already inside the rear 7 pin connector where is should be. Other wires in the bundle look like power ground and the controller itself connections I assume most of them will be connected up front locally.
The Coach is a 2009 but the chassis is a 2008
DriVer and luck finding the exact make and model of electric brake controller the wiring was built for?

Sure could use the Exact Make and Model number of the Electric Brake Controller Workhorse prewired my chassis for. I asked Workhorse, on their Contact us web site, but do not expect an answer if past experience is anything to reference.

Thanks - the schematic is of great help
I paid Workhorse $104.00 for a CD that they said contained my chassis wiring. To bad the CD was no where near up to date - stopped at 2005. Wasted $104.00 in the process.
Still looking for the make and model of the Electric Brake Controller - I will purchase one just as soon I I find out which one it is

KJINTF, How many axles on the trailer? If it's a 2 axle, the Tekonsha Voyager should work fine. I'm nor sure why you are expecting to need a "special controller"
The Voyager® incorporates Tekonsha’s patented braking sensor and is the best value you’ll find for smooth and secure trailer braking. It’s compact size and features, like a bicolored LED brake monitor (to assure a complete connection to trailer brakes and give an indication of relative braking power being applied) make the Voyager® extremely versatile. Voyager® minimizes interference with tow vehicle electrical systems, uses a four wire hook up, has a broad setting range and is compatible with most any vehicle. The Voyager® has all the extra power you’ll need for trailers with 6 or 8 brake systems. The Voyager® is covered by a 5 year limited warranty from the date of consumer purchase.
Note: You do not want to use weight distributing hitch on your motorhome.

Thanks,
I was thinking that Workhorse had a specific controller in mind when they laid out the wiring bundle. Not all controllers have the same connections. I believe the wiring bundle has 4 wires tagged for the controller in addition to the power and ground connections. Just thought they had a specific make and model in mind when they engineered the wiring.
I have a dual axle motor cycle trailer with electric brakes that will benefit from the installation. Also would be nice to have the extra braking power on some of the places we travel with the Motor Home and trailers.
Thanks again
Ken

I had to buy a special pigtail to connect the controller to the wiring in my Son-in-Laws GMC pickup. If Workhorse installed a plug connector for a brake controller, you may have to find a pigtail to connect to the controller you buy.
