Here at our shop Brazel's RV Performance,we set the W series to our these spec's
Total Toe In 1/16"
Camber .25 degrees left & 0.00 degrees right
+ or - .25 degrees
Caster we try to keep at 4.0 degrees or higher, with a max of 6 degrees.
Camber is adjustable just how Gary said,We bend the axle with hydraulic bending equipment.
And just as the other gentelman said the axle has memory.
We simply bent past the memory point & the axle then settles or relaxes at the spec we are trying to achieve,if it does'nt that we straighten it some more.

Hyder is a very professional shop with good management and skilled technicians. And their prices are reasonable too. Would that there were more such places!

Bumping this up to the top since I'm now dealing with this....
Here's what Workhorse gave me for the W22 alignment specs today:
Caster: 3 - 5 degrees (not adjustable) Higher means more self-centering action in the steering
Camber: 0.5 - 1.5 degrees (not adjustable)
Toe-in: .06 degrees +- .02 degrees
Torque spec for tie-rod end & drag link clamp bolts: 50 ft-lb (I thought it would be higher)
They do NOT recommend heating the axle to bend it; apparently some <STRIKE>idiots</STRIKE> shops have tried this.

However, the outside of my tires are GONE, the left more so than the right. I assume it is a toe problem. I have been reluctant to let anyone touch it because it does handle so well but after 16,000 miles and looking at having to get new tires I think I better have it looked at.
My question; If Caster and Camber is not adjustable and the only adjustment is toe, how can loading effect alignment? Loading shouldn't have anything to do with toe.

As the side of you tire wears, the steel will start to show. Not a good thing.

Is there a procedure in the service manuals? Does it require any special equipment?

Use duck tape and a rod. It worked great for me. The rod I used was at our bus shop. You might check at a truck shop. I have heard that they only charge around 40 bucks. Should take them about 1/2hr. to do the job. Just bring them the specs. from the W/H manual.

At 6000 miles I noticed the right front tire showing some wear on the outside. I took it to the alignment shop and they found the toe needed adjustment of 3/8 ".
I then drove it a 2000 mile trip to canada and back and I thought it handled fine before the alignemnt but I definately noticed an improvement and no more wear on the tire.

Bebop </div></BLOCKQUOTE>That makes me feel better about getting it done. I took a measurement of the center of the back of the tires vs the center of the front of the tires and it measures 1/8 to ¼ less in the front. I know this is not even close to being accurate but it does show I have a toe in problem.

Well, at least you appear to still have toe-in; I just had mine checked at Arrowhead Tire in Phoenix; the toe-in was -1/32" (yes, that's toe-OUT) which explains the rig's tendency to wander around like a dachshund tracking a badger. I'll have it on the road tomorrow and am hoping for the best.
Unfortunately the the thrust angle and caster are a bit off; they don't have the equipment to correct that, so that will have to wait another day.
By the way: the guys at the shop said that they are familiar with the aftermarket Panhard rods (rear Steer Safe, front Tru-Trac)and can't imagine why Workhorse didn't include them in the basic chassis design.

OK, Mike, here's the nitty gritty (these are "before" measurements):
0.4 deg Camber 0.6 deg
2.6 deg Caster 2.5 deg
-1/32" Toe-In -1/32"
Thrust Angle: -0.17 deg
I'm leaving for home tomorrow, so your being in Quartzsite won't help me. Sorry.

Acually I can still help a little. On I-10 in Tucson there is a shop with a great alignment tech,if your going that way let me know.As far as your numbers the thrust is OK not great,so that as well as the caster needs soime attention. We shoot for 5-6 degrees of caster and 0.00 thrust.
