Just a clarification. I believe the OP has a Allison 1000 transmission. Allison changed the 1000 series from a 5-speed to a 6-speed in 2006.

The last I heard, a new Porsche isn't considered by the factory to be using excessive oil until it used a quart every 500 (five HUNDRED)miles. I have owned 80+ vehicles, and am happy to put in a quart every one thousand miles, whether used or new. Also owned many that never used a drop.

Neither my 2005 W22 8.1 nor my 1985 Porsche 911 use any oil between changes and even before the change neither appears low.

DALE: I'm sure you know they don't offer a MACA for 2008, but "if" they did...the cost difference would be close to $200,000.00 now! The MADP is a beautiful coach, but waaay outta my price range! ED

Thanks everyone for the input part of my problem is for the last 29 years have had toyotas and have had none of them used oil until they had over 60K miles. I have what is going to be my tow a 2005 prius which i changed to mobile 1 on purchase and go 5000 miles between oil changes and the oil is still clear.
with my new MH i had the dealer put in a oil change of mobil 1 and 3K miles later it was black and a quart low and was told that was normal quite a shock. with all i have heard here i guess i will just have to check and change to oil more often by the way it was a pleasure to drive and the dogs realy like it. so guess i will keep it. again thanks for the feed back

Change your oil at 3000 miles as Workhorse recommends and you won't use any oil.

And, you have an Allison 1000 and it is a 6 speed. Both the 1000 and 2100mh have 6 speeds starting in 2006.
