What Filter?

The previous owners gave me all manuals for which I am very grateful, I think.
The Workhouse manual has only their #s for oil, air and fuel filters and the Onan manual goes through the replacement procedure but never gives a # for either filter. I also can't find a fuel filter # or procedure so if anybody knows if there is one please let me know.

I'm a 3000 mile change guy and Mobile 1 is my drug of choice. I like the idea that there is a reminder on the dash display. I can't wait to try it.

As for your Gen, just call CW and tell the parts Dept guy or Gal the model and No#, (Onan 7000 marquie) and they will give you the factory part no's for all three, fuel, oil, air. At least that is what i did and then went to the local Napa (No Auto Parts Anytime) and had them interchange the OEM No's to their gold numbers and saved a ton on $$.

I just did the service (oil and filter plus air filter)on my Onan 5500 and discovered a fuel leak. I found the upper filter had developed a leak so I replaced them both. I had already purchased the fuel filter and the upper adapter replacement but hadn't got around to replacing them.

Jim: not sure if you are asking about the chassis fuel filter, or the genset filter. If chassis, the number printed in the OM is probably wrong. I'm pretty sure you have the newer style "3 port" filter, and it has been discontinued. If so, you MUST by the "new" adapter kit, which comes with and allows the future use of, a standard, readily available, aftermarket filter. A quick search here in the Workhorse forum will find you lots of posts about the adapter kit. It is easy to buy from Oemy's site, or most any Workhorse dealer-especially our iRV2 sponsors like Brazel & Redlands.

As a new owner of a Workhorse chassis you are entitled to unlimited questions and posts here.

What Filter #s

He y Guys,

Thank you all for your input and I think I've gotten some idea of what I'll need for the Gen set. Scarry about the fuel leak so really a big thanks for that.

I sort of misled you because I made it look as if the Genset was my main interest. The Workhorse Vortec #s also don't seem to make any sense either.
I linked to Brazils website and the Allison # was the only one that matched. Here's what I have.
Oil filter: W8800470
Air: W8800464
Fuel: W0004996 which I believe is replaced by W0010883

Sorry I forgot:

On Brazil's site there is mention of 1/2, 1 & 2 quart oil filters. Bigger is better I should think but when you change every 3000 mi with synthetic is that really so?

Thanks Again

JIM: all of those are workhorse part #s, only available at Workhorse dealers. The "3 port" fuel filter W0010883 is no longer being made and you MUST buy the adapter kit, part # W8006889. See my earlier post. The kit comes with one GF481 filter, and you can also substitute GF652. Both of them are readily available at parts stores, unlike the W#s you found.

The "standard" OIL filter is AC Delco PF454, and there are lots of posts suggesting using the larger capacity filters-look elsewhere for those numbers.

The "standard" AIR filter is AC Delco A1236C which "should" include a new foam pre-filter. Without the foam it is A917C.

The ONLY part # needed for the Allison is 29539579.
