Greetings:
I have a 2000 Safari trek on P32. There appears to be a vertical piece of metal(may be aluminum?) hanging down in front of the drivers side front tire. It is not hinged but it looks like a mud flap. The one for the passenger side front tire is missing although there appears to have been one there once. Possibly the previous owner had a blow out causing it to be lost. My question is what is the point of having what looks like a mud flap in front and behind a front tire? Should I replace the one that is lost?

My previous MH had small mud flaps, or deflectors, in front of the front and rear wheels. I think they had been installed by the previous owner and were not original equip. I thought maybe they were to prevent small rocks or gravel from being thrown forward?? I wish I had them on my current MH.
