From a technical standpoint, what exactly should be accomplished on the 15K wheel bearing service? Is there a need to actually adjust the free play on the bearings or is it just replacing the fluid or just checking fluid level? I have copy of chassis manual but there were no details other than checking the oil level. Are the bearings tapered like in some older car designs?
Thanking you,

On this board we have not seen where front wheel bearings on the W24 have exhibited any need for adjustment after 15K miles of use.

Thanks a bunch Driver.
I just had a friend ask to have his serviced @ 30,000 miles and the shop evidently changed the fluid in the bearing resevour. Thus the leak he had several days after the service due to what they described as a loose fill plug. I'm still curious what kind of bearings are underneath the fluid, ie – are they tapered and thus will eventually need adjustment?
