We have a 2004 W-20 chassis (built in 2003). Does anyone know which parking brake system is used with this particular chassis (J71 or J72). The User's Guide I have isn't clear on this issue. Thanks in advance.
Jack

Jackm, Neither one. Every W-Series from W20 to W22 has always had a parking pawl and a foot apply parking brake.

Thank you very much. If the rig has to be towed, does the drive shaft still need to be disconnected? Thanks again.

Jack, In every case, towing a W-Series will require that the driveshaft be removed.

I found that if you need to be towed. Do not remove the drive shaft completely. Just remove the clamps holding the rear U joint. Then tie the shaft up out of the way. The tow truck driver pulled the shaft off of the splines. The seal that fits around the splines is so tight it was a real b---h to get back on. At least that was my experience .
