19.5" tires were chosen by a number of coach builders early on and some people prefer them to the 22.5 however you would have to ask them why.

Some folks liked to run small tires like on the early P Series because the motorhomes fit in their storage buildings.

The Goodyear LRG 19.5" tires are rated for use on the W22 so no worries there. 22.5s were very attractive to us the day we saw them and we didn't want to settle for anything less. That said we have owner's here that have 38Gs on 19.5 inch tires. It all depended at that time as to what the customer preference was or how the rig was orderded by the dealer. It's unlikely that you will see a 2004 or better W22 with 19.5s.

The W22 was always intended to be on 22.5s by the way. Some coach builders were not ready to start using them so that's why you see coaches with 19.5s.

I liked the 19.5s because they gave me a
rear end gear ratio choice...
19.5" Tires & Wheels = 4.78 to 1
22.5" Tires & Wheels = 5.13 to 1

1998 P12 Chevrolet Chassis

As DriVer has said, some Coach Mfgs. only
had 19.5 spec'd wheel well openings...

Driver, my new 2006 35 ft Allegro 35tsa came standard with 19.5 wheels. It is a W22. The Allegro brochure shows that this is the only tire size available on this unit. If you get into the Allegro Bay series on the same w22 chassis it comes standard with 22.5 wheels....go figure

A Fleetwood Southwind is "only" available on 19.5" rubber however it may be upgraded to a W22 with "G" rated Goodyear tires depending on the floorplan.

The Fleetwood Pace Arrow is "only" available on Michelin 22.5" rubber.

As I posted in the other RV Form page. I tried the good year G670 19.9. For some reason they would not balance or maybe it was out of round tires. In two days took the GY's off and went back to Michelin.
