2 great points.
For ME....
I always fill the tank up if it will park for more than a week. This reduces the chance for moisture to form and that is where you get the best chance for the development of diesel algae.
If I will park it for more than a month I then use a one time biocide shock treatment.
I also use STABIL diesel fuel treatment if I will park for more than a month.
Both the biocide and STABIL or put in the tank before I fill it up. I drive it for about 20 minutes afterwards along with running the generator. This gets it mixed up and flowing into the fuel system.
The other thing I did this year was add a fuel conditioner to the last fill up before I parked it. The reason was that when I fueled it up the last time I am certain I was getting a summer blend. I am parked until about Nov 30th so I wanted to protect my fuel system from gelling if we hit a really nasty cold spell before then.
