Today we left our campsite and it started raining. I turned on the windshield wipers and they worked fine. The problem was I could not turn them off. I could only turn them off by the turning off the key. Somehow they fixed themselves.

Then we were going from Oklahoma east to Arkansas. Started raining (big time) turned on the wipers and they worked fine on delay. Started raining harder turned them on to low rain got lighter went back to delay. YIKES they shut off. They would only work on high and as soon as I turned them to anything but high they would shut off and not go to park. I could turn them on and off but only run them on high....

Now they are working fine........

Any ideas?

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't. The problem is a poor ground connection in the wiper circuit. The ground is carried through the modular connector and removing the connector and repeatedly setting it back in place a few times will clean off the contacts.

Give it a shot - it's FREE/

Thanks DriVer... You should ask for a raise... I checked the connection and I can see where it would be subject to water. It is right behind the seem of the hood.......

Sounds like Demon's!
Abort your mission immediately and get away from the motorhome!

HeHe. I have to agree with DriVer. It's probably in the plug. There is a "Pulse Wiper Control Module" somewhere in the system but I doubt that's the problem. It's most likely a connector somewhere. The switch is basically an array of resistors. The switch selects which resistor. If you have a bad ground or bad connection, it will change the resistance and drive your control module crazy.

Couple years back had all kinds of problems with rain water in air intake and wippers that wouldn't stop wipeing.
Placed a bulb weather strip in that top crack of your hood opening.
Never had anymore power downs or faulty wippers.
I now have a CAI but the weather strip is still in that crack to protect that darn wipper plug that likes to suck in the rain water.

Thanks everyone. I did look at the connector and it is right behind the hood seem and I can see where it where it could get soaked.

I had the weather strip in there but took it our once I got the CAI. Time to re-install....

Dan your just jealous we are on the road hahahaha

Had exactly the same problem yesterday on the Oregon Coast. Ours fixed itself after sitting 15 minutes with the engine off. Will check it out when it stops raining. Another fix provided by good old IRV2.

Thanks for the tips on this one, everyone. Next time I load test the batteries I'll put some good old petroleum jelly there too.

Lee,

We see it many times,it's the wiper control module.Part number W0002648 should cost between 140-165 from a Workhorse dealer.DriVer's fix is less expensive, but we see alot of these that fail up here.

Mike, could you give me an idea where to look for this module, '05 National Seabreeze LX, WH chassis. Not going to mess with it till we get out of rainy area, but would like to know where it is, and what it looks like.
Thanks.

It's usually under the dash near the steering column. It is aluminum and blue and ressembles a stereo amplifier.
