This is one of those a "A friend down the street has a friend with a motor home on a Workhorse chassis." Seems the wiper is not working properly, doesn't know what that is. Anyhow, the local WH center told him they would have to hook up an analyzer to determine which module is bad. And the charge to hook up the analyzer is $90.
Any help on this one?
Thanks

I have never had this problem but if you search this forum you will find 2 main issues. The first is to make sure the wiper motor is grounded. The second is to unplug the wire harness to the wiper motor then clean and lube with dielectric grease. Good luck

I had problems with my wipers - wouldn't shut off. After weather cleared and things dried out, it was ok. I removed the wiper motor and took it apart, sealed all openings with RTV silicone and have not had a problem since. Apparently rain water was getting into the motor

Are you offended that someone who works on motor homes wants $90 to diagnosis your problem? If they find and fix the problem wouldn't that be better than having a wiper that does not work? Advice is cheap, tools and people are not.

No Bill, I am not offended. If you read the post, it is not I that is having a problem. What I am trying to ask is does it take an analyzer to tell if some module is bad?

There is nothing wrong with seeking professional help. But, if I can help someone, why not? I hope others would help me. I should have expanded my reply to include background on my wiper problem. It first occurred in the 1st year of ownership (new RV in 2006) so I had the local Workhorse repair facility check it out. They said it was the wiper control module and swapped it out. Well, ironically, it did not rain for awhile. When it did rain the problem reoccurred. This time I called Workhorse and was told that the motor was defective. Well, I have been an electronics tech for a long time and also learned auto mechanics from my father, a mechanic at the local Chrysler dealership. That is why I removed the motor and did what I did. Water was getting into the motor when it rained, which is also, obviously, the time that you use the wipers. It is an easy repair as dc motors are very simple. It does take care of the problem of wipers not shutting off.

Bcovey, thanks for the info. I found out this morning that he was told by the WC that there was two modules for the wiper, one cost $200 and the other $400. I realize that getting info second hand is not the best but it does not make any sense to me. I can only guess that the analyzer was supposed to tell them which module.
