Winnie 02, W-20 rear gear oil change!

Doing my rear gear oil change again, been awhile.
Seems as the last time I used 75/90, dont know
why most likely from a web site. At the time I
was thinking it was lighter than I would have though
but today's oil is NOT your grandads oil....

So I crawled under the MH to get the numbers off the
rear, the plate was not readable. Why does everything
have to be so hard?

As I have and will use Mobil 1, does anyone have a
clue, as weigh?? The drain on the pumpkin is at the
bottom and is more than damp around the plug.
Thinking back, pretty sure I did use plumber pipe
dope....that was many yrs. ago.

Anyone have any input, as to the weight of the fluid?

Thanks for any input...........coopcolt

If you go to the Dana/Spicer document website, they have a list of approved oils and approved manufacturers assuming that is who made your differential. Last time I looked, Mobil-1 wasn’t on the list.

Thanks vettenut for the spec. sheet. But 75% of the listed oils
I did not recognize the name and I would not have a clue where
to purchase such.
I buy and use most of the name brands oil, Mobile, Red line, Amsoil
and have used Royal Purple. Mostly Mobil and Red Line in Harley.
Just dropped the Mobil 1, 75w90 that had been in rear end for
8 or 10 yrs. Just changed it as I felt guilty, put in a clear wally world
container and it was not much darker than the new I put back in.
I do have another problem, after adding 2 gallons of 75W90 I am
still 1.5 inch below the fill hole in the rear end.
I GUESS I am to assume that I have to fill to the bottom of the
fill hole.

Anyone with any input? Thanks in advance....coopcolt

What differential do you have? Where is the fill plug located?

My D130 installed in my W24 took almost exactly 6 quarts.

The aluminum plate does not appear to have been
struck, I can make out some light bar code.
Drain plug is in bottom of pumpkin, very bottom
as it would be the first thing hit if something came
up from the ground.
Fill plug approx off center, half way up pumpkin.

Grandson, an old diesel mech. (retired) researched
said 12+ qt.
So today I will buy another gallon and bring her up.

Thanks for the input... coopcolt
