Were driving east on I-70 and our wipers will not turn off. If anyone has had this problem, do they think it's a problem with the windshield wiper motor or the turn signal handle?

Thanks!

If you need it off right now, find the fuse and pull it.

Then you can track down what's going on.

livnthedream, I would not doubt that you have a bad ground connection that is not allowing you to park the wipers.

Last summer I had a similar problem after driving through a very hard rain storm.
My wipers would not turn off, so I pulled over at the next exit. I pulled the wiper plug, dryed it, and replugged. Wipers turned off. I have also heard that, when pulling open the plug to place silicon contact grease on the contacts. Also, at the top of the engine cover opening, place a rubber bubble type strip along the top of the opening. This will prevent water getting to the plug. I have done all of the above, but since then I have not been in a rain storm. I only tested with a water hose and it seemed to work.

I had the same problem and the water was being splashed up around the ground terminal on the wiper motor. I got some silcone at the local auto shop and sealed all the elec wire connections and I havent had a problem since.

Same problem here. Wipers wouldn't turn off in the rain.

There is a connector under the hood in the line going to the wiper motor. This connector is not waterproof, and when water splashes into it, the wipers keep on running. I got a wire tie and raised the connector up as high as I could to get it out of the air/moisture stream. It helped a little, but didn't cure the problem.

Wrapping the connector with self-sealing electrical tape finally eliminated the problem completely. Lowe's, Home Depot, and even Walmart sell the tape.

I'm glad we all have the same gremlin. Mine used to do it also after washing/rain etc. Sealed connector at wiper motor and appears to have fixed it.

I would suggest we be careful not to wrap the connection hap hazardously and trap water under the tape!

Had the same issue and then some. Stopped the staying on by wrapping plug in cellophane .But I've had an issue were the wipers won't park at the bottom. They stop and then jump up 8 inches and stop. This happens almost every time I use them. Anyone have any ideas? It really is annoying.

Had a similar problem and once the wipers were started they could not be turned off. Had to disconnect the motor connector to stop them. Checked out the ground and connector, finally had to replace the wiper motor. About $79.00 and 20 minutes and all is well.....
