Several months ago when I had the fuel rail damper clip replaced at a workhorse dealer the tech was topping off my fluids and spilled a little. He washed it away with a hose. When I started the motor home(Trail Lite 321 W18 34 foot 2006)the wipers started and couldn't be shut off. The tech dried the connector behind the grill with an air hose and wrapped the connector with electric tape all seemed ok. On a trip 2 days later to Washington State from Arizona the wipers started and stopped when they wanted. Yes it was raining on and off. When it stopped raining I would pull over and unplug the wipers behind the grill and then when it started to rain again I would pull over and plug the wipers in again. I brought the M/H in to the dealer I bought it from, they left the ignition on for several hours and the wipers didn't start up. On a trip to Palm Springs 3 weeks ago the wipers started up by them self after traveling 200 miles from home. It was a clear beautiful day no rain in site. I forgot to mention my dealer did put a water proof trim around the hood opening in case rain was causing the proble. I really looked good backing in to my campsite on a clear beautiful day with the wipers running. On the way home they didn't start up at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try using the Find function with "windshield wipers". There are several threads on various problems folks have experienced. In a heavy rain when mine was new, the wipers would not change from fast to slow and then would not turn off at all until the engine was turned off. Once dried, the connector was coate and then rapped and that fixed my problem. Hope you can find a solution in one of the threads.

Try some contact cleaner in plug both ends and run a Qtip around prongs to make sure its clean.
Plug together and tape seam than tie plug up above the grill openings. When I use to have water going down the TUBA, before new CAI, I placed a weather strip across top opening of hood and stopped the water from entering, its still there protecting the wiper plug and wiper motor.

About ET and modular electrical plugs .....

Sometimes taping a modular plug might cause a condition where moisture would be retained in the plug. This will invite corrosion. IF taping a modular plug were popular we would see it more wide spread from the OEMs. Surely that's not the case. An open modular plug will dry out and if the contacts are kept clean they should serve the device well.

The most neglected diagnostic is assuring for a proper ground. This practice I have found resolves a great number of ~12~ volt type issues.

My reason to tape a modular plug would be to add an insulating layer over a metalic contact. It would be focused and only have a few wraps.
