Leaving tomorrow for a three week trip, find out tonight Transmission won't go into Park or "1" (first). Shift lever moves full range but indicator and transmission won't go into Park or 1. 2004 WorkHorse W-22, Allison 1000. Any ideas?

Be sure key switch is off. I don't mean that sarcastically. Sometimes it's not quite there. Also, check the forward-backward action of the lever and is in the correct detent position.
Good luck. Hope your trip goes well.
Worst case call 1-800-Allison

Pete, Bring it down to Larry's and have them take a look at it before you get on the road. It might only be a problem with the cable on the side of the tranny. If you need an Allison Service Center - here are the options.

Thanks Mike. I fixed it. The shift cable connects to a bracket that has a hole with two flat sides and goes over a shaft with two flat sides coming out of an Assembly on the side of the transmission. There is a standard nut (not a lock nut) with no washer (lock or otherwise) that holds the bracket over the shaft. This nut was loose so the bracket was not tuning the shaft, I put a lock washer on it and tightened it up. Works fine now. I will switch it out with a lock nut or use some blue Loctite.

Good thing all RV people have to pass the "Shade Tree Mechanics" course.
Congrats.
