After attempting to start the engine repeatedly over the period of 30 to 40 minutes. I gave up on the effort. The engine spun over at high speed but it would not fire. I had placed some calls in to my resources to help me determine cause and remedy however it was on a weekend and a lot of the guys I know are not at work.
Just when I was resigning myself to call Roadside Assistance, I tried to start the engine one more time and it fired right up!
WHEW!!!!
Now here's what I might choose to have done. Disconnect the automotive battery. Disconnect the ECM from the bus. Allow it to sit unpowered for about 30 minutes and then reconnect it. Connect the battery and attempt to start.
This may clear a fault or place the ECM back into a reset condition. Although not a proven practice this may get you going. As you are looking through the front and over the top of the radiator, the ECM is the bottom of the 2 computers.
Other things to look at would be fuel pressure and crank position sensor. There are a few other technical issues to consider but I don't think that detailing those here would help. These conditions can be immediately identified by a technician with a Tech II instrument. I can assist you in locating a service center in your vicinity if you need that information.
I'm not so sure that it would be a fuse however you can check all of those with a test lamp without unsocketing the fuses. Look for the exposed metal contacts on the top of the case and probe both sides to ground with a test light.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I could not hear the fuel pump runnning when I turned the key to the on position. So I am thinking fuel pump also.
I am having it towed tomorrow to a shop and hope for the best.
Again, thanks.

There is a fuse that is easily checked that is part of the circuit for the fuel pump. Check your underhood fuse box for it

JnGOnTheGo,
Sorry I don't have any better suggestions than what has already been mentioned.
However I'd like to take this opportunity to ask Driver and others about this.
On Ford vehicles and maybe all others since fuel injection, there is a button that you must push in to reactivate the fuel pump, supposively after a collision but the owners manual said to check this first if evber it would not start. I never had to use this. On my Fords it was under the dash on the passenger side.
Do we have this on our WH chassis and if so where is it?

There is a 20A fuse labeled Fuel Pump in the underhood fuse block.

Had a similar situation a few summers ago and tech found a loose connector on wiring harness along frame rail. Much cheaper than a fuel pump and all the labor involved. Hope you are as lucky as I was.

Just a note: The fuel pump will only run for a few seconds when you turn the key on then it will shut off, unless it starts of course, then it will run constant. I had troubles starting mine a while back and it turned out to be the fuel filter.

Wife had a '81 Escort with a "rollover switch" hidden inside the hard to remove interior left rear quarter panel. We called it the "pothole switch" for obvious reasons. When we married she was no longer allowed to buy F-O-R-Dailies!!Driver is right in suggesting you do a hard, software reset of the computerized ignition system. Easiest way is removal of negative battery cable, count all your cousins, and reconnect it! Good luck!

A long shot, but worth a try. Turn the ignition to the ON position
and crawl under the MH and hit the gas tank with the heel of hand.
Rap it several times to try to jar the pump on. Of course you can
hear it pump up if it works...Maybe take a small 2X4 and rap it.
I have lost 3 in tank pumps, and have been able to restart 2 this
way. But all vehicles had over 100K miles on them. Tenn.

Thanks Driver, but it would have been a good thing to check if we had one.
Still seems strange that 'all of a sudden, it just won't start'
Did you ever get it figured out, JnGOnTheGo ?

Had it towed and the problem was the fuel pump.
The Tech looked at all of the mentioned items, fuse, pump relay, listening for the pump to come on for a second when the key is turned to on, rapped on the tank. No luck. Had to replace.
Thanks All,
