I have a 2003 Holiday Rambler 36 ft motorhome. ABS brake recall was completed in January before I bought the motorhome. ABS light comes on intermittently. I have been to a workhorse repair shop twice. First time they replaced rear wheel speed sensors. Light came back on after about 400 miles. The second time, they said rear axles had too much play allowing too much air space at speed sensors. They repaired again, I drove about 100 miles and light came back on. Nearest workhorse repair centers are more than 100 miles from my home. Needless to say, I am frustrated about the time and costs involved with no resolution to the problem. Any advice?

Hi,
Find another Workhorse reapair center.

Does this happen while it is sitting or while you are driving?

If it happens while sitting try disconnecting the sensor on the master cylinder and see if it goes out. Also check fluid level in Master cylinder.

Hope this helps

Roy,

Welcome to IRV2. On our 06 Workhorse the ABS light came on and I called a service center on the road and talked to a technician. He said to check and see if there was any excessive heat at any of the wheels. If there wasn't and the brakes were working properly then don't worry about it until you can get into a service center. The ABS light went off before I made it home but I still took it in to a service center to see if they could find any problems. They said the only thing they found was a loose wire connection that might have caused the problem.

In your case I think I would find another Workhorse Service Center and get another opinion.

Good Luck,
Jon

Roy W 43 : The good news is that having the ABS light on does not prevent you from using the coach. I do understand and appreciate your frustration from not getting it repaired right, especially after two trip.

I don't know if you have any reason to take the coach towards Athens, but there is an excellent ASC here: ARV #1 In RV Service

If that won't work for you, I suggest :
Larry's Auto Clinic, Inc.
4719 Northgate Blvd Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
(843) 293-2205

Both have excellent reputations, and I think they will fix the problem. Good luck!

MIne did the same thing---it was a bent connection on one of the sensors---maybe smashed during the brake recall or some other way. Just my way of saying other than the light being on you are probably just fine to drive. Like Click and Clack the Tappet brothers say----just put some electricians tape over the light until you get to a shop. It is bothersome I know.

Check out the brake switch under the dash. If it is stuck or needs adjustment, it could activate the ABS light. This was our experience a couple of months ago.
