Workhorse Gas Tank Issue

I have an 09 Monaco gas class A, 08 WH chassis. The tank is a dual nipple tank, the coach came only with gas fill on the drivers side. When filling the tank, if you fill it until the pump shuts down, gas is then forced out of the top of the unused nipple, a lot of gas. It does it every time and I would estimate a least a gal or 2 spill out on the ground in the gas station.

I assume all of the WH tanks come with these dual nozzle tanks and the coach builder decides on which side or both to run the fill tubes.

Anyone else every have this issue? Or know of a recall. It is a big safety issue imo.

I have no idea of how they plug the unused nozzle as you cannot see the top of it. I would have to use a video scope

There was a recall on the R26 chassis to replace the cap on the unused filler pipe.

SKY Pilot: Wayne is correct about the recall, but it was not ONLY for the R26 UFO. They recalled ALL of the chassis that were equipped with the dual fill tanks because the rubber "cap" used to seal off the unused fill port was found to be not very durable when exposed to gasoline.

If you will post the last 8 digits (only) of your chassis vin #, I can verify if yours was included in the recall. It MAY not be too late to get this recall completed at Navistar's expense.

HERE is a link to the recall info: http://www.workhorseclub.com/documen...and%20NNB).pdf

There is still an active campaign that can be done by any Workhorse or Chevrolet truck service center, free of charge.
They replaced the one on myW-22.
