Workhorse motor cover

Have a 2004 Adventurer 38G on Workhorse chassis, how do I remove the motor cover inside the coach?

You cannt see them, they are covered with carpet, Try a small magnet. Or get down and start pushing with your Phillips screwdriver till you find them. Back ones are just off the floor. Donnt remember where the front ones are, their are "4"

Hi,

On my old '04 there were 4 phillips screws, 2 on each side about 2 to 3 inches off the floor plus you had a allen socket in the middle to the top of the cover towards the rear of the cover. In your info bag was an allen wrench that fit it.

If you are having a problem call Winnebago Customer Service. 1-800-537-1885 and I'm sure they will help you.

Good Luck!

I have a 38G and there is one screw on each side of the doghouse down low which are screwed into the firewall. The screws are about 1 inch off the floor and hidden in the pile if the rug. The is also a 3/8th hex head bolt on center in the rear if the cover

This is a pic of the location of the hex socket. I only had two Phillips head screws that were in the sides of the cover near the firewall. Once removed they are usually left off so they may not be there. There is a lip on the front of the cover that prevents it from lifting so they really aren't needed.

You will need a long Allen Wrench to turn the latch. Left to loose. I use a Vice Grip on the short end of the Allen key. I bought a set of long Allen wrenches at Sears.

Good picture on the location!

I agree on the replacement of the screws, I have not had them in place or 5 or more years. No problem. All you need is that rear center latch to be secure.

I don't think the chassis matters, it depends on who built the coach. I have a 96 daybreak on a p30 and my cover is held in place with 4 rubber latches that you pull up on to release. If you haven't removed the cover for awhile you might have to smack it a couple of times to get the seal to release.

2004 Sightseer engine cover

One allen head bolt in the center of the lower lip towards back as in photo posted. No phillips screws on mine. Did just pick my unit up from service center and about 3 miles down the interstate the engine cover slid backwards--what a surprise the noise and heat were unbelievable. So be sure you get that latched.
