Being new to a motorhome I am not sure how a Workhorse parking brake should work. I have a 2002 Itasca. It has a yellow button on the dash to activate the parking brake. My question is: If this is applied should you still be able to move the MH. On mine it seems to make no difference if it is on or not the MH will still move with ease. If the button is on and you turn it off it makes a noise but seems to do nothing else also makes the same noise when moved from park to drive. I'm thinking if driving down the road and the brakes go out and you hit the yellow button will nothing happen? thanks, Bob

you had better get some wheel chocks or something to keep your rig from rolling away.the parkbrake is also on when you put the rv in park, its the same thing.GM did not put a gear or paul for park on their motorhomes because of the weight,so when you put the tranny in park there is a brake drum mounted on your driveshaft right behind the tranny.Look under and you should see it.This is your parkbrake it works when tranny is placed in park, makes a funny noise as it engages.Yours sound like it is out of adjustment,or worn out.If it is either one the rig will roll away in park or when the button is pulled, they both do the same thing, keep the rv from rolling. In other words when you put your car in park their is a gear or paul in the tranny that keeps the car from moving,on the rv its the parkbrake on the driveshaft.Better have it looked at quickly..Here is a file I have showing the switch that works the brake.

contact oldusedbear in these forums he's the best!

Please don't drive it until its checked out,and never pull the brake button out while driving.

The brake system is very complicated and can have a few things not operating. Check the fluid level to insure there is enough to activate the brake. Adjustments etc could be the issue but if you are not mechanical it might be totally out of your relm.

Do not pull the switch if you are faster then a drift roll. If it works you never stopped so fast in your life.

Do not crawl under the coach unless the wheels are chocked.

Check at the rear of the transmission and remove the metal shield, (right side) check for leaks, and check the linkage.

As above check with "oldusedbear" he is the expert and has helped me in the past

Good luck
