See my previous post re: brake problems.
Noticed at the Chassis Club Forum that the following chassis have received post.
Workhorse----28,515
Spartan-------2,881
Freightliner--2,679
Ford----------2,596
Wonder why?? Most post are about problems, Are these other manufacturers having less problems??

Henry;

I don't know if someone has welcomed you to IRV2 or not. I would like to welcome you to the friendliest site on the Internet. There is a great bunch of folks here to share their experiences with IRV2 members.

To answer your question we would want to know how many Workhorse owners we have compared to Spartan for example. I suspect there have been a lot of posts here not related to problems. The Ultrapower Evaluation is a good example as it is on its 2nd go around.

I have been an active participant on this forum with probably more the 100 posts. I have very few problems and I am a Happy Camper. The subject of brake problems here has generated a lot of interest and concern. I have not had any problems with brakes but I sincerely feel badly for those who have. I am sure in the end we will have an answer to the problems.

Like you I would like to know the % of Workhorse owners who have serious problems and the % of Workhorse owners who have no serious problems. I know the folks with problems are a lot more vocal than those who don't have problems. Are the majority sitting back in silence? I don't know.

Don

Henry: I think you will find that the post counts have much more to do with how long a particular forum has existed, and to a lesser extent, the potential number of chassis out there. The Workhorse forum has been an active part of iRv2.com almost since the very beginning, whereas the Ford and FCCC sections were not added until Feb. 2006. Spartan and Roadmaster where added in June 2006.

As far as I can tell, Workhorse is the only forum with active participation by "Ambassadors" which, hopefully, adds meaningful content and interaction with our members. If the other chassis builders offer an ambassador program, I'm sure iRV2.com will welcome their participation, and will appreciate any contributions those folks could make to our knowledge base. ED

Henry, another thing to remember regarding comparing Workhorse to other manufacturers, even Ford motorhome chassis', is these other manufacturers have been in the business for many years. Workhorse on the other hand has only been building chassis' since year 2000. Back when the other manufacturers were relatively new there was no internet or other means allowing owners to discuss problems or vent issues. Had there been I'm sure there would have been a high count on them as well.

These other manufacturers have had more time to work the bugs out of their chassis'. Fifteen or twenty years from now Workhorse, if still in business, will probably have worked all the bugs out and you won't see so many problems.

Henry, if it was'nt for autopark, Actia, burn plug wires, problems with brakes, reduced engine power, WH exclusive fuel filters , Ultra Power, and probably a few others we would probably be as quiet as the other chassis forums.

dont forget the GM auto air filter box (designed for autos under the hood) setting just over the right front wheel, in a deluge when it rains and it not water tight or even water resistant

40,000 miles NO problens! Only thing done 1. brake recall, 2 new shocks! Runs like a champ! It's a keeper! It is not a race car, but it will run up to the speed limiter any day while pulling the toad. No heat problems even in 100+deg weather.

Bigdaddy: at 67,000+ miles I can say the same things. Perhaps there really is something to that "use it or lose it" slogan. I'm guessing you don't have much trouble with your daily driver school bus, either. ED

I'm thinking that we have strength in our numbers. I'm thinking most of us realize the intimate Workhorse/ GM relationship. I'm thinking most of us have GM/ Chevy preferences. I'm thinking a lot of us prefer doing as much as we can handle rather than misplacing our trust in others. I'm thinking most of us realize this is the best forum, the most thorough, knowledgeable and sharing forum. I think.
