The other posts are correct. I had a similar problem with sputtering. Fuel pump was the problem. Prior to that I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires which worked fro a time. But the fuel pump took care of the problem. But of course it does not hurt to change the fuel filter ever so often. Also goes for the spark plugs and wires.
