Attached below is a current listing of all the Workhorse Select Service Centers.

Before you set out to have your brake recall done see if you can hook up with these centers to obtain better pricing in the event you need or want to replace all your brake equipment. You guys out there with 6 to 10 year old motorhomes should consider this option. If you have a hi-mileage motorhome upward of 50,000 miles I might consider it.

If all your stuff is good keep it.

Remember to ask about the 1495.00 "Out The Door" special. It should also include the tax, I know it does here at my Service Center.
  • 4 calipers (replaced under the 51101-C recall includes brake fluid)
  • 2 sets of pads (4 wheels)
  • 4 new rotors
  • seals
  • gaskets
  • fluids
  • labor
  • tax
If there is equipment that is collaterally damaged that will be covered under the recall.

Optional Items:
  • brake hoses
  • abs sensors
  • bearing cups (front hubs)
Optional Service: (ask about)
  • Complete brake system flush (some dealers will do this for N/C or automatically)
Please also be aware of what should happen during your visit to the shop by reviewing the Repair Procedure.

Me2.

Just out of idle curiousity, what distinguishes a WCC from a WSSC? I noticed that in my state there are two dealers I've used (same name and ownership, idfferent locations) but only one is listed as a WSSC. Yet the other one did my recall.

It is my understanding that "Workhorse select service centers" have agreed to the special pricing and that it is not necessarily offered at all Workhorse authorized facilities. Is this correct?

Yes this is correct. As written on workhorse.com;

Workhorse Custom Chassis has created a “Select” Service Center network consisting of Authorized Workhorse Service Centers that are prepared to handle a large volume of Campaign 51101-C’s for our customers. Select Service Centers will receive their brake caliper assemblies and miscellaneous parts in bulk as opposed to singular orders. Contact your local Authorized Workhorse Select Service Center for additional information.

WASCs that are SSCs are able to enjoy special pricing because they are buying retail parts by the palette. There are other incentives as well which make participating in the SSC program advantageous to the dealership. The program was optional and the WASCs were not compelled to join however they were encouraged. The fear if it could be called that, was buying parts for 25 coaches at a clip. I expect that many of these guys did not want to deal with the possibility that they might have excess inventory concluding the recall.

I do know that the SSCs are doing well or that's what I hear "because" those folks in the know are repeatedly booking the SSCs. There are SSCs out there that are getting palettes every week or more. If you are doing a lot of recalls and can offer the "package deal" this is both a good option for folks with 7 to 10 year old motorhomes and good for the dealership because they can do more vehicles.

In my case I only bought 1 set of brake pads. For me going to an SSC did not provide me a whole bunch of benefit because I expect that it would have cost me close to the same for a set of pads whether I went to an SSC or a WASC.

Hope that answers both questions.

Now I understand why there is such a difference in pricing being reported and services being rendered. Looks like many did not avail themselves of all the information that was posted both here and on the WH website.

At the Tampa Supershow there are owners complaining about the brake recall. When asked, they have a 10 year old motorhomes, have never practiced any form of maintenance and yet expect Workhorse to pay for calipers, rotors and pads when there's no appreciable damage aside from wear & tear just because there's a brake recall.

WOW. I bet there were no legitimate complaints, just owners who don`t do maintenance.
Beginning to sound familiar.

Just stating my opinion as were you, guess that isn`t allowed. You seem to be the one bringing up the same old rhetoric.

When I report on what Workhorse owners are talking about, how am I providing rhetoric? I suggested if I keep the reports to myself perhaps they would not provide fuel for arguments. I don't like becoming involved in yet another brake tennis match.

One of the items that anyone might sink their teeth into is why are some owners reporting that they are being taken advantage of by a very few centers that are I believe overcharging owners or intimidating people. This I expect is the main concern and topic of conversation from some people at the display which in of itself would eclipse the lack of maintenance that some owners were freely admitting to.

Before Tampa, I heard where owners are being made to sign a document releasing the dealer from any liability because the owner declined buying new rotors or pads. This is intimidation pure and simple. It appears to me that owners might be buying stuff that they don't need. I did not see where anything like this has been documented in any repair procedure or anything else. Some dealers I guess are making this stuff up as they go along because they are taking advantage of owners. Don't sign anything, call your Regional Service Manger first.

If nothing else, owners need to research the recall before they bring their rig in even to the extent of getting a second opinion if at all possible. In some markets that's possible in others the centers are hundreds of miles apart. In these forums owners don't have to go very far to get a recommendation for one dealer or another because we are privileged to be able to share good information with one another.

The rub is that most individuals don't have a computer nor any incentive to be proactive on their own behalf to make sure that they are getting value for the service they are getting.

Please also read into this that the vast majority of service centers do excellent work and are honest in their business practices and have many satisfied customers.

I have to admit that I am proud of my dealer here because when you get there you will only be subject to buying exactly what you need and if the damage can be attributed to collateral damage that's exactly how it would be pursued. You don't even have to sign anything.

I would hope that owners here get some benefit from reading these threads and that they will make good decisions when it comes time for them to have their campaign cleared.

Brakes are one of the only systems in a new car warranty that are subject to wear and tear like belts and hoses. Just because there's a recall in place does not give every owner a license to claim that all their brakes components should be replaced for free due to the recall.

I'm going over to the chat room now. You should drop in and say hello.

Auto Truck Services in Colorado Springs is the closest. I'll post how things go. The folks at Pikes Peak Traveland seem to like them so I hope that is a good sign.
