Workhorse to Dreamstar ?
In the 1960s International Harvester was changing it's truck names to end in STAR. Loadstar--Fleetstar--Transtar--Paystar--etc. and I attended a dealer meeting that pictures of a Dreamstar (motorhome) were introduced.
Years later International Harvester Trucks became Navistar International.
When Navistar bought Workhorse I wondered if the Dreamstar name would ever reappear?

The name"Dreamstar" may be the "Hail Mary" that WH needs to make a sucessful model again. But it's just sooo hard to find an engine, there's only a few dozen companies that know how to make them.
WH reminds me of the kid who quits if they won't let him win. And they only had one competitor.
Someone who understands big business, please tell me again, why did Navistar buy WH and Monaco. A tax write off?
Navistar did well with the state of CO though. After dominating for years, they lost the bid to Mack for a year but after some litigation, We're getting new Internationals again.

Who knows.. I did not know that Navistar was IHC. Thanks for the info.
I know Workhorse name is "Tainted" through none of their fault by the Bosch brake issue.
Perhaps a re-design (of the company name/logo) will fix that. it is a good product in my not very humble opinion.. and I drive one.

Welllll .... You're almost there. Navistar sold the propreiary rights to Case IHC so there goes the IH part and the company's trade name. Navistar's truck division is called International Trucks. If you go to this page you can see all the trade mark names that Navistar owns.
Navistar

How about ???? HorseStar ? Yea! That's what I'm talking about!
This seems like a worthwhile discussion; what would you suggest as an alternate name for a Navistar Custom RV Chassis?
Navistar has Pro, Dura, Terra, Pay, Work, Lone, Tran and Load - "Star" already allocated.
In my personal opinion, guys aren't going to buy a "Dream" something unless it's the Dreamliner, Boeing 787.
Hmmmm !? (we have to be mindful of Newmar & Winnebago brand names too!) {isn't easy is it?}
DriVerStar? Naaaa .....
OK ... "the suffix "star" is out!

The word horse reminds me of the bronco or a jeep. The name Workhorse reminds me of a clydesdale , a donkey or maybe a tough pickup truck. Motorhome should be more relaxing and hopefully a little more luxurious than a work truck or a Jeep. I'm not the biggest fan of International trucks but they pretty solid and have been around forever.
If navistar would get serious and want to compete in the motorhome business, I think they already have a pretty nice name in Navistar. And it's already a known name in trucking so the customer and dealers might have confidence that they will be around awhile. Wouldn't it be nice if we could also have the choice to take our motorhome into an international truck service center? You don't see ford truck service centers out on the interstate do ya?
I think I'd rather say I had a Navistar motorhome chassis than a Workhorse motorhome chassis. After all these years the name workhorse is still an unknown Except for motor home people.
Let me intruduce my new to me toad.
My wife named him Clyde, not for Clydesdale but because she feels like we are "Bonnie & Clyde" when were riding in him. He rides like a Model T, awesome fun.
