Workhorse UFO Diagnostic odb2 vs Meritor Wabco Toolkit

Hi,

When I had my 2004 F53 I could easily diagnose issues with a Scangauge, on my UFO the Scangauge does not read any codes ever.

I have only found 1 shop in Michigan that has the Meritor Wabco toolkit cable and software.

We plan to keep the coach at least another 7 years (hopefully 10 or more), is it worth my while purchasing the Meritor Wabco toolkit?

From my recollection it can diagnose more.than brake issues.

Thanks,

I found an old thread where I asked a similar question.

I would need GM Tech 2 odb2 scanner and a Meritor Wabco cable and software.

Does your Scangauge have a 'Generic' setting on it? You could try that.
I use my Snap On scanner by lying to it and programming it for a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with an 8.1 engine.

I like the GM Tech 2 odb2 scanner ($300 ebay), it works with the engine and transmission. Toolbox only works with the brakes (Software $300, Hardware $700).

Hi Lynn,

I will get that with the Scangauge.

Hi Oldskool,

Did you purchase the brakes diagnostic kit?

Question

Is it really true that the GM Tech 2 odb2 scanner will diagnose engine and transmission on our workhorse UFO's?
If so I shall get one. I am having so many issues.
Thanks....

Question

We need to find out from somebody if this scanner does it all ? [Except the brakes. We know Wabco Toolbox is for brakes]

I have been having so many issues lately, as I have posted over the last week or so.

Question

Just did some research:

Tech 2 Pro Optima. Authentic GM software provides the most comprehensive diagnostic software for late model GM vehicles. The Tech 2 also supports onboard diagnostics and full bi-directional control when performing powertrain, chassis and body diagnostics.

So would this not be a Great tool for our UFO's with
the GM Vortec 8.1

It could help us with lots of issues?

Did you contact Cummins like I recommended in your other thread? They worked out as the best shop for me.

If you type what you are looking for in the search tab, it will search IRV2

Here you go, Kevin did a review on using the Tech II, the UFO has the same engine 8.1 as a the W series so it will work on your UFO

No I did not. Working on fixing Problems myself. I have spent so many $ on shops doing diagnostics with little results.
On 21 Nov. taking coach in for rear brake pads and rotors. They also have Wabco Toolbox software...

I just watched the video. This is most certainly the best diagnostic tool for us UFO owners. It would pay for itself. I recently had a Allison service centre diagnose my tranny. It cost me $250 for them to tell me the tranny was good!
