I think the UFO idea is great. The biggest complaint I have on my present MH is the engine noise. Putting it in the rear would be great.

One question, why is the rear end gear ration so high or low depending on how you describe it.

Mike, when you posted gauges on the IP, does that mean that WH has wisely deep sixed the LCD IP...

The new IP has a 33% or so larger Command Center viewing area and many more pixels per inch for greater character detail. The IP also features 3 user selectable back ground colors. The new IP will look different that the current build however I haven't seen the final release as of yet.

Gee, I'm sorry to hear that. I would think that with all the problems and complaints regarding the IP that WH would come up with a more user friendly IP. If it must be a sophisticated offering, why not make it LED that the majority of consumers (seniors) can see. Mike you can debate this to the grave , but this is not the way to go. If Ford can do it , why can't WH do the same.... Bud

The new IP will be more visible because it's going to be physically bigger. Adding more pixels per square inch is like turning a 560 scan line TV into Hi-Def. You are going to be able to see the characters at all times sun or not and that should turn things around.

Let's take a look at the new IP before we condemn it.

DriVer,

Is the UFO rear-mount radiator only? I'm guessing so.

Also, I would imagine that the RDP chassis will continue in the product line for the forseeable future (though the 28000 GVWR version may be in jeopardy).

Although the 28,000 GVWR variant appears to be close in performance to the 26,000 UFO the 40,000 GCWR of the R-Series RDP makes a pretty good case as to why WCC will most likely retain the lineup the way it is.

Performance wise WCC has stated that the UFO can compete well against 28K RDPs in diveability and performance. Tow rating wise the 40K GCWR of the R-Series is very significant if that's important to the owner.

Personally I have only seen or driven the 32K R-Series variants.

Looking at the fan, dam and cool pack you can see how well integrated the components are. The fan is recessed in the dam. The dam is a continuous cone shaped enclosure terminating on the rear of the cool pack. The direction of flow is outward through the cool pack.

From the original test beds, WCC found that they had to reduce the size of the cool pack because the engine wasn't achieving an ideal operating range. It was always too cool. The current cool pack is a layered radiator design and there aren't any other coolers sandwiched between one another. Both transmission and coolant lines run horizontally through the same cool pack and receive the same flow.

The single 18" fan augmented A/C condenser is mounted forward on an angle slightly in front of the front axle and behind the generator in the coolest air flow area possible under the chassis. Personally used under test drive conditions the dash mounted A/C was "cold".

From its inception the UFO was designed to overcome the previous rear gas cooling failures and Workhorse engineering certainly got it done.

Question, hasn't the rear gasser been done before? And the engine overheating caused it
be dropped. What will the UFO offer that it's predecessor lacked.
