I also cut the shrouds' side pieces into two parts on each side and riveted them to their respective shroud edges to insure they cant fall off or get sucked in. This procedure also makes shroud installation much easier.
Today I removed the lower shroud and made a set of spacers to relocate the shroud downward about 3/8 of an inch.

I used and old white plastic cutting board my wife thru out. It is made of polypropolene and seems to be a very tough material.

Simply traced the area of the flange surface on one of the sides of the shroud and locating the three holes. Two holes are for mounting bolts and one is for the alignment peg part of the top shroud. After cutting and drilling the two pieces , I attached them to the bottom shrouds' flanges with a couple of short #6 sheet metal screws.

Reinstalling was easy with the spacers already attached.

Reattached to top shroud with original 1 1/4 X 1/4-20 bolts. Three screws along the bottom edge secure the shroud to the frame. I was unable to use the original "S" clips. However, I am very comfortable with the integrity of these attachments as well as the fingers width of space between shroud and fan blade.

Please refrain from laughing.........I looked under the hood and did not see a big plastic shroud. Just two fans, side by side and a radiator..... with a larger radiator in back.

Guess I need to take off the doghouse to see ? Never have done this. Don't want to do this as it looks heavy and awkward. I can picture grease getting on the carpet and two leather captain's chairs.

Is this what I need to do? Have not crawled underneath yet as ground is wet. Is this how you see the shroud?

OK, someone out there who has taken pity on me......please reply. I am too inept to post a picture.

Scooter, you will need to crawl underneath to see the bottom half of the shroud. You will also get a better view of the side seals located vertically along the shrouds and covering part of the radiator side tanks.

I laid on some cardboard and went underneath. Found all was apparently well. Prior owner had placed two sheet metal screws in the lower shroud inboard of the two clips.

Enough space for me to get a pinky finger between fan blade and shroud. Did not see or feel any rough marks on shroud where fan might have hit. Shroud was secure as I pushed and pulled.

Could not see sides too well. Top portion of shroud not visible to me. It seems I would have to take off the doghouse to see this.

Thanks for your help.
