My friends W22 has close to 40K miles and when he had the unit inspected the Workhorse Service Center informed him the front rotors were badly worn and would have to be replaced. (To be accomplished along with the brake recall)
I found it hard to believe the rotors could be that badly worn and the brake pads were not. The coach has not experienced any brake lock-ups.
What are you experiencing?

Rotors are usually replaced because they are damaged by worn pads (steel on steel) beyond what normally can be machined out or warped beyond repair (from excessive heat).
I'd ask the tech to measure the thickness of the rotors and advise what is minimum acceptable thickness........then measure new ones.
Sounds like someone either needs work or has a lot of rotors in stock.
Is it possible the recall requires new rotors no matter what their condition?

I hate to be a skeptic, however I find it hard to believe the rotors would be badly worn, considering the pads are not worn out and no metal to metal contact has occurred.
Thanks for the recommendation to obtain the measurements of the rotor.

Fred all the information you need is located here: Bosch Pin Slide Manual beginning on page 51.
The rotor is manufactured to be 1.44 inches and the minimum is 1.32 inches.

Keep in mind that the minimum thickness is when the rotor is worn out...not that it is still good and can be put back on the coach.
Not defending the service center if they are trying to fleece you, but realize that every service guy is going to have his own interpretation of what is worn out. Kind of be thinking about that when you make your own measurements...
Kind of think of what you would consider worn out too...
