Driver, Did you get this done? I just got my MH back from WH service center where they included a goodwill installation of the zerks as authorized by the WH field guy for WH. I don't see fittings any where around the cross shaft bellcrank area. But I do see 2 zerk fittings on the parts BOM @$2.82 each. How visible/accessible are these fittings.

The brake cross shaft connects and translates the push of the brake pedal to a second connected rod at the bottom of the shaft that pushes on the Hydro-Max brake booster.
Initially an auxiliary spring was installed on the bell crank however at the time of the installation of the zirk, the tech removed the return spring. Not needed.
The zirk fitting is clearly visible.

Interesting. I see no spring no zerks and no evidence of any body touching anything. Dirt not disturbed...Wonder if WH got charged for labor?

Question to DriVer...I can't find where your need to have the zirks installed is stated. Can you tell me why?
The brake pedal on my 04 Brave 34D has started hanging up when I shut the engine off and I have to pull it up to shut off the brake booster. I suspect the brake cross shaft is seizing.
Thanks!

On the question on installing a zerk fitting on the relay. It is out in the cold air and I think the regular chassis grease would hinder the operation. That last little bit of movement does not require much force. Maybe "white" grease would work better???

Has anyone got a picture of where exactly these zerk fittings are and are they needed or is there another way of lubing this item. I don't think dealers are going to place them without some compensation if its not on a recall. "007"

The brake bell-crank or "Z-Bar" as it is affectionately known features a recently added zirk fitting.
This zirk fitting was added by an authorized Workhorse Service Center in Greensboro, NC. Terry Labonte Chevrolet accomplished the installation and it is the preferred method of applying a measure of preventative maintenance to the Z-Bar. With routine service this should prevent a Z-Bar from ever getting stuck. There is a return spring in the Hydro-Max so an auxiliary return spring is not necessary.
When the zirk is charged, grease will come out from the front bottom of the bar and on my bar it comes out from the top on the back side.
You should be able to rotate the Z-Bar clockwise using your hands so that it engages the emergency motor. One other check would be to see if the bar moves freely up and down. It should move vertically about an 1/8 of an inch or so. Worse case would be the pedal not returning when you take your foot off of the brake. Typically, If the Z-bar can't be moved by hand it's stuck and may need to be dissembled, cleaned, replaced and lubed. On that note, it's rare that these things get stuck however beginning in the 2005 model year the zirk was installed at the factory.
Note the location of the 2 recall campaign stickers. One was for the IP re-flash and the other for the CAT recall.
