I am trying to replace my exisitng motorcraft air filter on my new 2007 Winnebago Voyage, w/ Ford V-10 with a k&n or equivilant. I am not able to cross referance the part numbers. Has anyone made this change, and do you know the K&N part #? K&N has been no help.

Thanks, Stick

Having bought a 2007 Itasca Spirit with the Ford 6.8L V-10, I too was looking for K & N info. I found out that the OEM air filter is a Motorcraft FA1632, which can be easily cross-referenced with K & N to find their part #. I did the same with Amsoil and found their air filter, oil filter, and oil to complete the package. Use the above Motorcraft # to find your K & N.

K&N air filters are fine as long as they have sufficient distance between it and the Mass Air Sensor. I had a K&N filter on one of my vehicles and the MAS became really oily from the filter due to the short distance between the filter and the MAS. I went to a Wix filter and all is well.

I just heard a rumor that the '06/'07 Ford V-10s have switched from a cone-style filter to a panel style. I have an '07 coach on an '06 chassis, and mine still has the cone style. I'm going to try the Amsoil 100,000 mile filter to see how she does.......

I'm new to this forum, and have a Ford chassis motor home after eight years of diesels, so I have lots of questions. I'd like to know the advantage of a K&N air filter over the OEM Ford product.
Thanks.

Advantages are potentially better gas mileage and more power.

Disadvantages are expensive, accelerated engine wear, requires cleaning/oiling and corruption of the mass air sensor.

Some love them while others don't see the expense and bother as worth it.

The K n N helps the engine breath a little better , but at what expense. After reading posts and from personal experiance I see no great advantage. My last gas pickup showed no signs of better mpg or performance. This is just a personal opinion.I got good friends who swear by after market air filters.

I run the K&N air filter because it came with the Banks Power Pack system. I figure if a company like Banks Engineering chooses it as part of their mileage and horsepower improvement package, that's good enough for me. I mean after all they are the ones with the high tech testing equipment that documented the improved performance from K & N filters.
