1990 CLASS A FORD E4OD TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE PRO OR CON

We have recieved much help from this forum. We are having a new fuel pump installed and have a chance to have transmission fluid changed by pumping out old and replacing with new. Question is with 68,000 mi on 1990 ford e4od transmission is it safe. transmission shifts great ford service guy says he hopes it dosn`t unleash a beast. What could go wrong service scheduled for Monday

Do not back flush it. Drain torque converter it has a drain plug,and trans put new filter and oil.

1995 have the Banks Power Pack on my 95 F53 460 and love it. It really makes the old 460 grunt up the mountains, Koni's.

Concur with Gary, I see no cons to this service. Changing the filter and draining the torque converter should help get the gunk out.

Transmission should be serviced every 30,000 miles, fluid & filter change. Unless you get maintenance records reflecting when the transmission was last serviced, I would highly recommend having it serviced. I would also concur with Gary P's recommendation.
