This forum has been very helpful in the past so here is my new problem.

We are traveling to Florida with no problems for1300 miles. 70 miles an hour on the interstate. Got off i 95 and came to a stop at the light engine would idle but breakdown and stall under power. we made it to a fuel station and checked all fluids, changed cap and rotor, all gauges were normal. It would start and idle but shift into drive and breaking down and stalling. we called for a tow and waited an hour when he showed it started right up and we drove another 150 miles with no problems until we got off the highway and came to a stop same problem again. cooled for 2 hrs and all was well again.
please help

Sounds like the in tank fuel pump or a dirty fuel filter.

Sounds like a fuel filter problem to me or even a pump.

The earlier model coaches with the Ford 460 engines were notorious for the in-tank fuel pump failure. As others suggested try changing out the fuel filter first. You also should have a Ford technician check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the engine. I would suspect a failing fuel pump.

Best of luck getting your problem resolved

You should check you old filter for restriction. Simpy blow in the inlet side to see if there is ant back pressure. If it restricted, take a hacksaw and cut it in half, you will find what happened to it. Good luck,
