Hi I have a 1997 F53 with a 460 EFI Manufature Date 06 97 of the chassis I have looked all over for the OBI or II conector and cannot find it. The MH manufacturer says if it has one it will be next to the Steering colum but it is not there; nor is it next to the fuse box under the hood. Is it poss there is not one there and if there is not can I access fault codes through a flashing dash light or other means ??? Any ideas??

You may have to remove the trim on the lower column side, should be on the right side.

As drifter pointed out it is on the right side of the column. The F53 is OBDI until model year 99, then they are OBDII. They made the switchover in 99.

I have searched for the connector on my 2000 F53 to no avail - is this located in the same location as pre 2000?

In my '99 HR it was just to the right of the lower steering column trim. HR technicians said I would have to remove the lower trim piece. After I removed it I found the connector and realized I didn't have to remove the trim. It was screw mounted to another piece of plastic and had a cover over it. I had to unmount it so I could get the ODB II connector on it. I just left it hanging loose. Good luck finding yours.

Thanks for the detailed explanation - I will concentrate on that area.

Remove the lower trim and look right on the column. Mine is attached to the column.

Getting old and often forget things - not sure if I thanked you for your info - anyway, really appreciated it.

Found the connector thanks to all of you - what a wonderful help this site is. I removed the lever control panel and found it screwed to the steering post behind the panel - would never have found it without help.
