You did good.
I broke down in campground, engine would not start. Had it towed to a Commercial truck repair business in Youngstown, Ohio and $1600.00 and greasey footprints on my carpet later I was on my way. I'm on my third fuel pump. First fuel pump 130,000 miles, second fuel pump 3000 miles, Third fuel pump hoping for the best. I put a couple of bottles of Techron in before a fillup of gas to help lubricate the pump and other advantages. Gasoline is a solvent and not very lubricious. Good luck

I just bought a 97 F53 460 chassis (30k miles). The fuel pump was replaced in the last few years by the previous owner.
I assumed the new pumps would not be as troublesome as the original design. Not true? Did they just keep replacing with the same bad design? Should I be carrying a spare pump on the road with me?

I hope mine is fixed as the pump I removed was built in 1997, but who knows. I just changed exhaust manifolds out with headers last year. Now it looks like i'm going to have trouble with my air ride suspension as the compressor is not shutting off. I hope its just a line leaking but will have to wait till warmer and dryer weather to work on.
