1999 Ford F53 transmission(manual shifting?

Hi, has anyone know how to convert r4100 transmission to a manual shift like most cars have today, you can move shifter sideways and control the shifts of your auto tranny, is this possible with my transmission? I would really like to be able to control shifts myself to allow the motorhome to perform better and downshift less, especially when a downshift is not required ( small short climbs) Any assistance greatly appreciated

You could add this: PCS - Powertrain Control Solutions - Simple Shift Transmission Control

Does your shift selector have D 3 2 1 ? Putting in 3 will limit shift up past 3, but engine RPM and torque will dictate shifts below. Same for 2 and 1 positions.

The transmission is a 4R100. I don't think there is an easy way to convert it to an "auto-stick" like in most cars or newer trucks now.

you might look into a chip, such as sold by site sponsors brazels or 5 star,

My biggest complaint about my old 99 v10 gasserwas that it would sownshift at the site of a hill in the distance, and run that v10 at 5500 rpm until that hill was invisible in the rearview mirror.

A brazel ultrapower tune took care of that faster than u could blink.
