In the car industry I remember getting the 1st oil change around 1,000-1,500 miles. Is this the case for new Gas engines? If so I am looking to change to full synthetic any recommendations?

What does the owners manual say about the first change? I've put 73,000 miles on my V-10, changing it every 3000 miles, using Ford semi-synthetic 5w20 or 10w30 and Motorcraft filters from WalMart.

The Owners Manual says every 3,000 miles but, doesn't mention 1st service.

I thought I read a few years ago, not to put synthetic in too soon so the engine has time to wear in? I thought it used to be in the owners manual???

campclan, no need to change at 1500 miles, if an initial oil change was required at 1,500 miles the owners manual would state same. I would recommend using the 3,000 mile interval as stated in the manual for your oil & filter change.
Good luck and safe travels....

My 2007 manual spec's the semi 5w20 and the motorcraft filters that are rated very good. Well rated, Spec. materials at good prices is a win win.
I would plan out the oil fill. On mine you have to do a quart at a time or pump it in as it is so high up and the way the hood opens.

I would go the 3,000 mile route. Some synthetics are so slick, the rings will not seat, if you change to quick. I know for a fact Shell Aero used to have a warning, not to start a new engine with it.

The trip to the Dealer here was already 3,000 miles, so - I had it changed right away after Delivery at 'MY' shop and they use the Oil 5W20.
I would stick with the Manual. Why pay extra .

Before you do anything, Plan ahead. Look under the hood and be sure you can put the oil back in without a pump!!!
I drained the oil and could not figure a way to get the plastic container up under the hood to pour the new oil back in. (about had a heart attack).
My V10 took 6 quarts plus one for the oil filter, being an old auto mech. I only had 5 quarts.
Plan ahead

these late model f53s have to be one of the hardest ones to change oil on. yesterday i thought i would be a l;ittle smarter by putting the drain pan on the axle instead of letting the oil drain on the axle and the relay bar and making a mess. only thing was the pan got heavy on one end and sloshsed over anyway, go figure. then the oil filter is located behind those supply and return hoses, which makes it harder to get to with slippery handes. i guess i need one of those fumo valves.

I use a local Ford dealer every 3000 miles @$29.95 with the Motorcraft oil and filters. They'll also check my tires, shocks etc. Good service and I trust them.

You are lucky to have a Ford dealer near you that will work on your RV. Neither Ford joint near me will touch my RV.

The larger Ford dealer of the two in this city loves to work on motorhomes. I always have my oil changes etc done in their shop. I also get them to service the brakes each spring after the winter lay up.
