Exclamation 2000 F53 Fuel Tank Ground Wire

Just a heads up. Find your fuel tank ground wire and check to make sure it's tight to the bolt stud on your frame. The day before a trip the engine wouldn't start. I discovered that the attachment bolt on the frame was rusted and the nut was not tight to the ground wire. It was an easy fix and I was on my way but I wanted to mention another issue. I believe a loose and arching connection will act like a bad fuel pump.

I wonder how many tanks were dropped and fuel pumps replaced when it was just a bad ground wire. I also did another improvement that avoided a new fuel pump. A fuel pump and the fuel pumps check valve are 2 different issues. My v10 was hard to start because all the fuel in the line was draining back to the tank. I installed a fuel line check valve as close to the fuel tank as possible and it worked great. That along with a tight ground connection and now it starts and runs great.

I have long said many RVers have a few screws loose, and have been recently reminded that there are Loose Nuts in many RV's as well.

Of course since this is the 2nd post in this thread everyone will understand I'm talking about Real nuts, bolts and screws the kind you tighten with screwdrivers and wrenches..... Not the other kind

Any place a copper wire joins a steel frame... This can happen. in fact any place two DIFFERENT metals interact, this can happen.

My new to me 2001 Bounder had the fuel tank dropped and fuel pump replaced in Arizona a while back to a previous owner. I wonder if it was this issue? But at least I know my fuel pump is not a 2001. Good info. When I bought mine I crawled all around and I thought it has very little rust for a northeast unit. I treated the whole under side with Krown rust protection, love the stuff.
