I have a Class A (30' gulfstream) on a 2006 F53 chassis.....I do my own oil/filters, chassis lube etc and have a question on the driveshaft.....
I hear/read that some F53's have the zerk fittings to grease the shaft, some are sealed......I have crawled and looked and cannot find any fittings, however I have been known to miss some things .....
Does this year F53 have the sealed driveshaft, do some have the grease fittings and some don't, etc....I guess I just am asking if I need to look further or forget it, the 06's are all sealed (or not)......
thanks in advance....

No fittings on my 06. Did you do the external tranny filter? If not, I have a source for a superior filter.

My 2006 FORD F53 does not have grease fittings for the drive shaft either. However the entire front end has grease fittings , (king pins, tie rod ends etc.)

Do all F53's have the external filter? I have a 04 Brave on a F53 chassis. Where would I look to find the filter?

The external filter came out in 06 with the 5 speed TRANS. and was dropped on the 07 F53 chassis.
Transmission
• External transmission filter is deleted June 2007
• New high mileage internal transmission filter is
utilized. Service interval is increased from 24 to
36 months.

I wonder why Ford did that (only had external for one year)? I actually thought the external filter was a good idea but their element sucked.

The 5 speed transmission was used on other Ford trucks for a few years prior to putting it on the motorhome chassis.
