Possible but highly unlikely on a 2013. That would cause a power loss climbing a grade but would have no affect going down hill. He said after going up a hill, he has to floor it to get down the other side. He made it to the top ok so no plugged converter. I stand by my "BS theory" on this whole story.

If the transmission is over filled and gets hot. The fluid would not be able to drain down and away from the drive hubs, bands and shafts properly. This would cause excessive drag and the need to increase the amount of pedal needed to keep things going along at the same speed. So even going down hill the fluid would not drain down properly. After you stop and allow things to cool down the level drops back down and things work as normal.
On our motorhome the fluid was over filled and the unit would not shift correctly when going up and down the mountain hills in WV last March even while it was cold out. Drained the level down to the correct level and shifting was much better.
This was a problem back a few years ago when I worked on Fire Trucks and ambulances for a living. People check the level cold see it is low on the stick and fill it up to the hot full mark. Most dip sticks from cold to full can range from 1/2" to up to 1" or more difference.
Plugged exhaust followed by poor fuel supply are the two items checked under what he described his problem as. Could be a simple as a poor performing electric fuel pump in the tank. Going down the hill after heavy fuel usage the pump might not be able to catch up with the demand. Stop pull over shut down it cools and starts working again.

It goes up hill just fine but won't coast down the other side.

Maybe he's out-of-pocket or stuck somewhere and can't get to the net. Maybe it's really awful and he's working . Lets wait until MIKE 4275 responds to some or any of the suggestions. If he is legit we should hear soon. If he's not then we'll move on.

Also letting some of you know this is not a bs story may i also let you know when i received this coach it had a leak a tranny line while repairing the loose fitting they noticed a hole in the tranny case one of the torque converter weights had broke loose and came thought the case. ford sent a new case and they took the tranny parts from old tranny and put in new case and new torque converter were installed i let the ford center know this and they will be looking at it as well. thanks again

I never doubted your issue. I tend to have more trust in people. Thanks for the response.
I realize that maybe you didn't think the tranny had anything to do with your issue (I didn't thik so either) but it is always a good idea when you have a problem to always include any recent work that has been done to your unit. Just the fact that a tech has been working on your vehicle opens a door to more issues.
Maybe Ford can come up with a solution. There's one more issue that I have sen happen once. Your situation would not qualify because you said it went up the hills but had to be floored to get down.
Once we had a double walled exhaust pipe get hot enough so it folded over inside. No exhaust no power. It was diagnosed by putting gauges in the exhaust system. If the exhaust can't get out the system builds pressure and it shouldn't. This happened early in the use of CATS but I know that they can also get plugged. Usually there are codes that are set when that happens.
Do keep us informed. Most of us are always interested in the solution.

Well now knowing about the transmission issue it could be that. Back to the catalytic converter, the local Ford dealer here has seen and dealt with failing converters in newer trucks. One of my fleet customers had one go bad in a 2013 F250. I inquired and was told this.

The transmission is part of the drive train. I can see how a binding problem in the transmission could do this. The next time it happens, go to neutral and see if it speeds up.

I wish someone would explain how it will go up the hill just fine but won't go down the other side without flooring it.

Let me run this scenario by you. I've experienced this myself. Traveling on 80/90 across Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York there are so many hills you can lose track of your surroundings. Nothing to judge except rocks and more hills. After going up and down so many times I actually couldn't tell if I was going up hill or down. On some hills it appeared that I was going up hill but had to apply the brakes. On other hills it appeared that I was going down but actually had to step on the gas to maintain speed. It wasn't just me, the people riding with me didn't know either. Just a thought.

If you have a fluid passage that is holding pressure when you tilt the transmission down in front, as you would when you top a hill, It could easily cause a big drag on the drive train. It also could be a issue with clearance with the internals of the transmission. When you pull a hill the trans. temp goes up. If something is too tight it could easily start to bind. We used to install bearing races in engines and heated the race in hot oil to make it swell so that it could go over the shaft. same principal.
