2016 F53 Emergency Brake Dash Light Not Going Out
I have a 2016 Tiffin Allegro on the Ford chassis. When releasing the emergency brake, the dash warning light switch on the pedal mechanism will sometimes not be depressed sufficiently to turn off the dash warning light (and subsequent warning chime). I can pull up in the pedal by hand and it will go off, but will not always stay off. I think all that is happening is that the plunger on the switch is not being depressed sufficiently to break the circuit. I do not think that anything else is amiss with the emergency brake system.
I saw a video on YouTube where someone had to completely disassemble the emergency brake mechanism to replace that switch. I'm wondering if there is just an adjustment that can be made to assure that the switch plunger is sufficiently depressed when the brake is released to turn off the light and the warning chime without taking everything apart.
Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

If you have a driveshaft type park brake system; they are adjustable. This type uses a pretty heavy reurn spring. If you can, crawl under and take a look. Be careful. Might be good to take to Ford if you do not have service manual. Under Warrentee?
Good luck, Ken

Is it just the emergency brake light, or is the hydroboost light on as well?

Brianb131 - It is just the warning lamp in the instrument cluster that illuminates when you turn on the ignition showing that the parking brake is applied. The thing is that if the parking brake releases fully after pulling the release lever, the warning does not illuminate, nor does the warning chime sound. But if I pull the release lever and the light does not go out, if I pull up just slightly on the parking brake pedal, the light will go off. Sometimes it will stay off, other times it won't, or it will go off until road vibrations cause it to illuminate again (with chimes following a short time later). So I'm figuring it's just an adjustment issue, if there is an adjustment.

electrowood - Good point, it is under warranty, and I have considered bringing it to Ford. I just thought if there was a simple adjustment to make, I could do that myself. If I have to bring it to Ford, I'll probably call Tiffin first to get the work pre-approved. Not sure if they will be prime on this or if they will defer to Ford since this is a chassis issue.

Look under the dash where the Parking Brake Pedal is and see if you can see the switch. If so then see how it is attached and see if you can make the adjustment. You most likely will just need to move it slightly down toward the floor so that it come on when the foot pedal is released.
Good luck and good hunting

I stuck my cell phone up in there and started clicking pictures randomly. My parking brake is set. I think this picture shows the switch, but no obvious adjustment mechanism. A shadow from the flash makes it look like the plunger goes into a hole in the gear, but the gear is behind the plunger. Since the brake is set the surface that comes up to contact the plunger does not show in this picture. It might be that the bolt that holds it to the frame is loose enough to let the switch move a little. I'd try for that little bolt first.
I had a similar problem with an older motorhome on a Workhorse chassis, but with the main brake pedal switch. When not braking, the switch plunger did not retract enough to keep the brake lights off. Once again, no simple adjustment was possible. The whole brake pedal assembly would have to be disassembled. My fix in that case was easy since there was a large moving surface that came up to contact the plunger. I epoxied a penny to that surface.

Thanks Gary. Really appreciate the effort! The manner in which the switch is assembled to the E-Brake mechanism is exactly why the fellow in the YouTube video had to remove the entire assembly. With all the clutter up there and the difficult access, he couldn't see a way to get a wrench or ratchet on it without removing the whole assembly and taking is apart. I'm going to have to make a decision whether to just have Ford do it. We have a dealership in downtown Cincinnati that will work on Ford motorhome chassis.

Brought it to Ford. They fixed it under warranty. My recollection is that the whole thing was out of alignment/ adjustment. The tech took it all apart and reassembled it and haven't had a problem since.
