I never checked the gas mileage on our 2006 F-53 chassis because, quite frankly, I didn't want to know.

That said I have checked the gas mileage on our new F-53 six speed chassis as a public service.

1860 miles to 2195 miles. 53.2 gallons. 6.3 mpg

2195 mil to 2404 miles. 32.4 gallons. 6.45 mpg

Here's what I started monitoring. With the info choice of "Miles to Empty" when ever we fill the tank I monitor it. Early on we'd see 560 or 575 MTE. After 12,000 + miles and the 5 Star TUNE I'm seeing over 610 MTE. With an 80 gallon tank and seeing a full tank getting another 40-60 miles that says we are getting .5 MPG or better improvement.

It may not be exact but like you I'm not sure I really want to know.

50 mile irange mprovement on 80 gallons would be a 0.6mpg improvement. If it would be tmpg you would get double digit mpg - i would trade my rig asap if rhat would be the case 😄.

I have always check mileage...... it is a quick way to identify a small engine issue that might arise.

I am on my 3rd V10. I have found that with me, mileage improves after 12k to 15k ,iles on the motor.

At what average speed did you get that mileage? Assume that was towing your Vue. Seems a little low for a 6 speed and was thinking/hoping it would be better, but perhaps will get better once you break it in with few more thousand miles.

Well, I didn't buy an RV to get good fuel mileage, bought it to use. Yes, good mileage would be nice but it's not going to keep us from using the MH.

We returned yesterday from a weekend trip with our 2013 Itasca 27N flat towing a Corolla 5SPD, mostly flat highway with a few slight inclines and approx 30 miles of small towns with red lights. I filled the tank just before we left and refilled at the same pump when we got back. The total mileage was 519 miles and 67.8 gallons of fuel for 7.65 MPG.

The 5star worked as expected, went from 5th to 3rd twice during the trip, all other down shifts were from 5th to 4th.

Have the CHF both front and rear, felt very little movement with passing semis.

Total miles driven over a lengthy time and miles divided by total gallons used is the only realistic MPG calculation. Fill-ups will vary due to MH not being level at fill-up, side to side, front to rear.

I have a new Vista 31BE with the 6-speed and got a OBDLink MX to monitor to the engine. So far on my first trip it was showing between 7 and 8 mpg. Also will be logging fill ups to get a more accurate overall mpg including generator.

Only put a few hundred miles on it so far and it's my first RV so I don;t have much to compare to, but the six speed seems to hold gears well and the cruise control seems to work well even hitting inclines. Down shifting seems less aggressive than the videos I have seen of the 5-speed.

I try to cruise at "big rig" speed. In Washington State trucks can travel at 60 mph so I am between 60 and 65 mph. Yes, we were towing the Vue. And in Washington there are a few grades on I-5.

On the first tank my driving was more aggressive as I wanted to know the top RPM of the engine/transmission combination. Top RPMs appears to be 4,300. The first tank included a second trip and a trip to the dealership.

I was not as aggressive on the second tank. Both trips included the same stretch of I-5 and I filled up in the same lane of the same gas station.

Driving style has a lot to do with gas mileage. Others could drive the coach and get more mpg. JD

X2. That is why I never checked the gas mileage on our old coach. Some were interested but I believe that I opened a can of worms.

On my 2001 Tropical 6350 with the 310 HP, 4 sp I averaged 7.7 mpg for the 64000 miles that I owned it. Now, on my 2015 Tiffin Allegro 32SA with the 362 HP, 5 speed, I've barely been getting 7.0 mpg. It only has 5000 miles on it and I hope it improves. I usually drive around 62 mph.
