2018 F53 Transmission Vent
I have a 2019 Tiffin that has a 2018 F53 engine. I noticed a very slight oil look on the top of the transmission and the vent tube at the top is slightly oil wet. I have not noticed anything on the ground and haven't seen anything new come out of the rubber vent tube. The engine only has 950 miles and I did notice this back when it only had 100 miles. If you look at the photo you can see that hose/cord that drape over the transmission are dry and don't have oil on them so I believe the oily residue on the top of the transmission must have been their before Tiffin built the motorhome on top of the chassis.
Does this look normal? I feel like its nothing, but as a new owner I just want to make sure. I did have to have a power steering hose replaced at Ford the first 2 weeks I owned the coach and Ford didn't say anything about this oily residue on the transmission.

If you want, just keep your eye on it, but I wouldn't worry about it.

When a vehicle comes in the shop with one item on the repair ticket, that's usually all they do. It's not like he's going to say, "ya know, since it's here, I'm going to check other unrelated things to see if everything is ok." There's a certain amount of billable time allocated for what's on the repair ticket

That year ford is using mercon lb, it expands with heat, run RV on the rd oad under heavy load 10 accelles from 00 to 70 stop and check trans level it should be BELOW the full mark by 1/16 inch...
Hope this helps, trans has to be at 175f to check properly, you cannot do it in your driveway

put a hose on the vent and run it down and under and away from the exhaust. Trannys will vent, and hot fluid is pretty flammable. Nearly burnt one down, had to frantically remove engine cover screws to get a better look and an extinguisher on it. Never put the screws in again after that!.

Had ours 3 years now and it has happened to us. Like you I was up tight about it and posted on IRV. The responses gave me peace of mind so I've pretty well ignored it. Think it was just an initial "burp" of excess tranny fluid from the vent and looked about like yours. Fluid level is good but on the high end. But in 3 years and 34000 miles not problemo . Runs and works like a charm!
