2020 New Upgraded F-53 Chassis
There have been talks about the new upgraded 2020 Ford F-53 RV chassis upgrade and the old F-53 chassis have ceased being manufactured. Word has it the 2020 chassis will begin to roll out in November or December of 2019.
There are a few questions about getting updated information on this topic. When will the 2020 chassis be available in RVs? Will the chassis upgrade also include the new 10 speed transmission or will it still have the 6 speed? Your thoughts, information, knowledge and opinions on the new 2020 chassis with either the 6 or 10 speed transmission is being solicited and would be greatly appreciated. As always, thanks in advance

^^Here's a thread from a few months ago that has a lot of information and opinions.
As of now it doesn't look like the first ones will have the 10spd. Some people speculate it will be later. I personally think the 6 would be fine with a select-shift feature to let you pick your gear. I'm also very excited to learn of the new HP/Torque numbers. I'd hope for HP up over 400 by a good bit and Torque upwards of 500. By comparison the 6.4L in my Ram puts out 410/430 and that's 5+ year old technology. I'd think with more displacement and 5 years of technology they can really hit it out of the part but we will see. Also, manufacturers have a tendency to understate or de-tune the engine so they can boost it in later years so the first numbers they come out with well may not be the best.
Aside from engine stuff I'd sure love to see some suspension and handling improvements. From researching and talking to folks, these things seem to handle pretty poorly "right out of the box". Lots of talk about adding better springs, steering stabilizers, etc.
I'm eyeing a move to a class A in a few years and am in the classic conundrum of new/newer gas or old diesel. An improved gas chassis sure could sway me.

I would like to see Ford offer a rear engine gas chassis with the power stroke diesel as an option.

Tiffin offers the Liquid Spring suspension from the factory. It is installed on the Ford assembly line. Likely will be available from other manufacturers as well.

If GM or anybody else throws their hat in the Class A Chassis ring they will most likely take 50% of the market without even trying hard . All they need is better fuel mileage a better ride and a bit more GCVWR and they will walk away with it. Ford has been sitting on their heals for the last 10 years and made very few improvements.
Listen up you guys, Better ride, more tow power and better mpg's. Heck I personally would go for a FRED over a gas anyday. Too bad they went away due to DEF.
Actually the MH MFG's don't want them due to better MPGs and a higher cost than gas chassis.
OKAY I'm off the soapbox.

Found this surfing around th internet today...seems the 10 speed transmission would be part of the 7.3 V8 according the the rationale being offered by Ford...seem to go hand in hand. Looking forward to the release of the specs for the 7.3 this fall!
“Known by its nickname Godzilla, Ford expects it will be the strongest gasoline engine in the class, but won’t be announcing its specifications until the truck’s on sale date this fall. The trucks will also be available with a carry-over 6.2-liter V8 and an updated, more powerful version of the Super Duty’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel.”
“The two massive motors are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, while new bumper and grille designs help them breathe better. Twin models feature big twin-nostril openings on the grille that give them a unique style helping them deliver the highest tow rating of any F-Series Super Duty to date.”

Somewhere in this thread or another similar one it's pretty much clear that Ford intends to hold off on pairing the 10spd to the F53 (at least initially). All the talk of new engine and 10spd together relates to the HD trucks.

That is what I've also heard. V8 with the 6 speed in the F53 for now.

Thanks for the replies and info.
From reading about Ford's reason for introducing the 7.3 coupled with the 10 speed was to improve its initial power at lower RPM which would also provide you with somewhat better gas mileage.
Wonder if that will happen if they just give you the bigger motor without the 10 speed?

Any Chassis upgrades/updats? Like for handling on the F53? 10 speed auto will be nice if/when it is available with the V8.

The transmission drops into a neutral mode while stopped in traffic. That lets the engine idle, with no load on it, while waiting for lights.
Its a gas saving routine.

Someone smarter than me on this topic will have an answer, but i just can't understand why they wouldn't use the 6.7 powerstroke already in the F350. 450HP and 935lb-ft of torque at 1800rpm seems like it would move me just fine. What am I missing? Why develop another engine especially a gas for this application?
